Trevi Fountain
It was over.
Edward growled harshly. What had happened moments ago was for the best. Bella was obviously heartbroken, but those wounds could be healed by someone normal. He was dangerous; it was a wonder he hadn't harmed Bella yet. Yet. It would've only been a matter of time if he had stayed.
That's why he had said those hurtful things. Things he would never say to Bella, but his mind was no longer clouded with ideas of loving a human girl.
He found he didn't like his head being so clear.
So, instead, he focused on increasing his speed. He had to get to the Swan house. He had to remove anything that would remind Bella of him. It would make the healing process easier for her, and he only wanted her happiness.
But what about your own?
Edward decided to ignore that thought. Bella's home was finally coming into view, and he took notice of the easiest way to get inside his girlfriend's - ex-girlfriend's - room. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you looked at it, Bella's window was opened. As if she had been expecting him. He grimaced.
Jumping inside, a wave of nostalgia crashed over Edward. He stutter-stepped, feeling the need to run away and hold Bella in his arms again, but he couldn't turn back. Too much damage had already been done. Quickly, he collected anything that would remind Bella of their short, but wonderful, courting.
He was so engrossed in his task he didn't notice Charlie's footsteps until Bella's father was clomping up the stairs. Startled, Edward froze before whooshing out the window.
When Charlie opened his daughter's bedroom door all he saw was the window's curtains swaying from the breeze.
-BREAK-
Edward was in Italy.
He hadn't told anyone, though he doubted Alice hadn't seen it already. While he awaited his family's arrival, he enjoyed the time he had to himself. Old paintings. Ancient buildings. Rich culture. Italy was a hotbed for distracting pursuits. One could easily forget their troubles in the country.
That is until he passed by the Trevi Fountain, the Fountain of Love. He clenched his fists, trying not to remember the girl he'd left behind in America.
He was failing.
Not many people were out, seeing how it was raining, but a few couples meandered. Feeling hopeful Edward searched his pocket for a coin, and finding his search successful he flipped it into the fountain.
I wish I could love her.
He started when a warm hand brushed over his. His glance traveled from the dainty appendage to an equally fragile-looking arm up to a face that held eyes so similar to Bella's. Pained. Betrayed. But, when she grinned Edward realized that her eyes were nothing like his ex-girlfriend's. Instead, they burned with fierce determination.
For what?
"Hello," she greeted. "May I ask why a handsome boy like you is wishing for love?" Edward glared. The girl retreated, and her smile flagged for a moment, but returned with a vengeance. "My name is Domenica Vescovi. How may I be of service?"
If it could, Edward's heart would have skipped a beat.
"Your wish has been granted."
