For their sixth month anniversary, even though Doug had still been keeping their relationship under wraps, he decided that he needed to do something really special to make up for the fact that Jack felt like he had when he was in the closet, and just wanted to make the relationship public. Doug got Pacey to let him borrow his spare house key, since Pacey and Jack were sharing a small bachelor pad temporarily, while Pacey looked for his own place in Capeside.
Doug had gone to the florist and bought every single yellow flower. His reasoning was that yellow was a happy color and he wanted his boyfriend to wake up feeling happy and loved on the morning of their anniversary. The night before, Pacey called Doug after Jack had gone to bed, and Doug snuck in the house. He and Pacey had spread every counter top, and available space except for Jack's bathroom, Jack's room, and Pacey's room with the flowers.
Doug slept on the couch that night, uneasily, waiting for his love to wake up at six o'clock.
At 6:15 Doug sat nervously on the couch, knowing that Jack was in the shower. He was hoping that he would be done soon. He tried not to bounce as he waited.
A few seconds later, Jack stepped out of his room, wrapped in a terry cloth robe, and entered the hallway, a smile appearing on his face as he saw the mass explosion of flowers.
He saw Doug waiting for him on the couch, sitting with his knees in the couch, and his face peering over the edge, an eager expression on his face.
Jack walked over to him, and ruffled his hair. "You're cute." He grinned, and he and his lover shared a kiss. He then jumped over the back of the couch so he could sit besides Doug, and Doug turned towards him.
"Happy Anniversary." Doug murmured softly.
Jack nuzzled Doug's neck a little, letting a content purr leave his lips, and pulled Doug into a huge hug.
