"Oh, cool!... A sweater." Eridan's grin drooped slightly when he lifted the cheesy Twelfth Perigee sweater up to eye level. "It's...colorful." He was telling the truth; it was a garish, vivid purple sweater with mustard yellow stripes. He understood exactly what Feferi was trying to get across.
Sollux, Feferi, and Eridan sat huddled on Eridan's large couch. "Thanks, Fef. I reely appreciate it." He put extra emphasis on the 'reely', making Feferi giggle.
"Oh, it's no problem, Eridan! I'm glad you like it! I knitted it myself..." Feferi smiled, the aura around her practically glowing. Sollux and Eridan both smiled in spite of themselves.
"Open up the one I gave you," Sollux said to Feferi, his voice holding an obviously unintended abrasive edge to it. Feferi picked it up and eagerly tore the paper apart. She found a box underneath the wrappings, and gently opened it. She gasped happily when she saw what was inside.
"Oh, Sollux, it's wonderful!" she squealed, marveling at the object. Eridan pushed his glasses farther up the bridge of his nose and squinted at the present. It looked like a small glass orb, filled with water and the occasional sparkle. It had a few fish and a coral reef sitting at the bottom and had a deep blue base.
"What is that?" he asked, a bit confused. He'd never seen anything like it.
"It's a snow globe," Sollux replied quickly. His reply was smug and he grinned as he explained. "It's supposed to 'snow' after you shake it." Feferi gave it a little shake to demonstrate and the sparkles flew everywhere, eventually floating down to the bottom.
"Well, that's a pretty cool gift," Eridan muttered rather begrudgingly. Sollux grinned again, this time at Feferi. "Well, I guess I'll open the one you gave me..." They both glared at each other; Eridan could feel sparks shooting towards him from Sollux's eyes.
He hesitantly unwrapped the large gift. Who knew what Sollux would hide in his box? He leaned back a bit as he opened it, almost frightened.
It was...a bow and arrow. A real bow, with a sheath seated beside it in the box. He gasped, and couldn't hide the huge grin on his face when he took it out of the box.
Sollux smirked, which snapped Eridan out of his joyous state. He scowled and began to closely inspect the bow, then each arrow. To his surprise, everything was in perfect condition. "...Gee. Thanks, Sol." He then glared at Sollux, baring his teeth. "But if you're thinkin' about gettin' on Fef's good side with this overly kind gesture..." he muttered, his voice low.
Sollux scoffed and opened up the present Feferi have him. After tearing off the magenta wrapping paper, he lifted up a yellow and purple striped scarf. "Thanks, Feferi. It's cool." Feferi giggled.
"Look! You presents match!" she pointed out, emphasizing the 'match' part of the sentence. Eridan and Sollux smiled at each other, obviously grimacing through their teeth.
"Y'know… Maybe it won't be so bad having to socialize with you tonight…" Sollux muttered to Eridan.
"And why is that?" Eridan responded, his question snappy and cynical.
"Because we're doing it for Feferi. And that makes it okay with me." Sollux let the smallest of smiles grace his lips.
"Yeah, you're right." And so, Eridan pulled on his sweater and Sollux wrapped the scarf around his neck and the three of them had a very fun night.
