Hey! I'm quite new to this site and also quite new to writing fan fiction! This story was actually inspired by one of the many amazing stories I've read so far on this site, and it's called "Glass Slippers" by bettified! I hope you do not mind me lifting off some of the elements from your story into mine! I'm really afraid I'm doing something wrong, so if I've done or written anything to offend anyone, I'm really sorry!
And lastly, I hope you all enjoy my story….and hopefully it's not too confusing or weird for you to understand. Comments or constructive criticism would be much appreciated!

DISCLAIMER: I do not own any of the characters I used in my story, they are all from Ugly Betty! Whom all belong to Silvio Horta!

Chapter One

Narrator: Her Tiara glistened beautifully, providing some light in the dark gloomy cellar which consumed her. Swishing and swaying about in her puffed up pearly pink frock, Princess Bettina anxiously awaited to be rescued by her Prince Charming, Henrik.

Princess Bettina: Oh…..

Narrator: She smiled a goofy smile, just the thought of him abruptly pushed aside all uneasy feelings of any sort. The sweet princess sighed dreamily, fantasizing as she so often did, about her Prince and the magical trail they would soon tread upon together…..

Princess Bettina: soon enough if it weren't for that wretched enchantress!

Narrator: She huffed, stomping her foot to the ground to express the seething rage rallied up inside her …only to cry out in pain afterwards. She sighed again, this time a little less dreamily…..a little more hopelessly, beginning to give up, beginning to wonder how long she could keep up with this continuous predicament. She dropped herself brusquely on the sturdy platform which she had assumed was her bed…compliments to the enchantress, Charla.

Princess Bettina: How very kind of her….

Narrator: The princess muttered through gritted teeth. The Evil Enchantress of Tusconia has yet again come in between the princess and the happiness she shared with her Henrik. Charla would never stop…. She would never surrender, and she will continue to make their lives miserable…..just as long as they remain together. For the Enchantress herself, has set her cold dark heart to beat for the prince and has chosen him to be hers for all eternity. There was a time when the Prince was drawn to the alluring female sorcerer, however, he realized her malevolence and sinful ways and turned away.

Princess Bettina: Especially after she fiddled around with that…that wizard…..the good for nothing-

Narrator: And she has attempted, several times to seduce and enchant the kind and gullible Henrik, to win back his affections. But she would fail just as many times, for the prince was now madly in love with the heir of the Kingdom of La Moda, Princess Bettina.

Desperate and outraged, the enchantress abducted the princess, holding her captive in her threatening swarthy fortress, with the intention of making a bargain with the dear prince charming.

"Stay with me, and the girl will live……….leave me and she BURNS IN THE FIERY PITS OF HELL!" the princess remembered she sneered wickedly, over and over again, practicing her approach before he would obviously arrive to come and save his love.

Princess Bettina: UGH!

The young maiden flailed her arms about as she groaned with frustration. She was not worried about her own well being, but Henrik….poor sweet, benevolent Henrik. Charla would surely trap him this time, he would never let any harm come to Bettina. Just once….just this once, she wished Henrik would be anything but himself…..sweet, noble…COMPLETELY OBLIVIOUS! He would always be so very pleasant in his rejections to the Enchantress, which would so very often aggravate the princess.

Princess Bettina: There is a limit to graciousness and courtesy, is there not? I respect his gentlemanly qualities, but ….enough is enough!

Narrator: The Princess rose from where she was seated and maintained the prince should take a stand. And she was very hopeful, that this time he would…that this time, would be different. That he would be pushed so far, he would be forced to battle the Enchantress and end this ongoing conflict once and for all!

Princess Bettina: That is just what will happen! He will confront her and demand that she leave us alone or he would be forced to destroy her and her foul ghouls! And then he would come for me, up the steely stairs and through that very door, with open strong arms and say-

Prince Henrik: BETTINA!

Princess Bettina: AGHHHHH!

The princess jumped, with her hands resting near her chest, grabbing a handful of her dress. She swiftly swerved towards where the voice had come from with startled round eyes. Her brows slowly dropped and her eyes could not help but convey a hint of disappointment as she gazed at her supposed knight in shining armour…..climbing hastily with great difficulty from out of a window.

Princess Bettina: So much for standing up……

She thought miserably as she quickly went over to the Prince's assistance.

Princess Bettina: Henrik…you came. My Herooo!

The princess uttered a little too enthusiastically as he finally levelled himself on the cobbled floor. He adjusted his glasses and his attire, gasping for air at the same time. Regaining composure, he looked upon his beloved and suddenly embraced her, as if holding on to his own dear life.

Prince Henrik: Oh Thank Heavens you're safe!!

Prince Bettina: Hmmm….

They both parted and stared into each other's eyes. It had felt like decades that they had been separated, and yet it was only a day. But just then, Henrik had unexpectedly broke their trance and had begun to speak rapidly, grabbing Bettina's arm and pulling her to the window in the process.

Prince Henrik: Alright! We must leave immediately, before she finds me here.

Princess Bettina: ..but…but whatever do you mean?

She stopped in their tracks, pulling him back, as if asking him to speak more slowly and sensibly.

Prince Henrik: Oh dear! This is not the time for an explanation Princess Bettina. I know you wish this could all stop…and…and…well…..we just do not have time for this right now! You're in grave danger! We must leave this instant…we can settle things later…

Princess Bettina: But Henrik…we never do settle things with Charla. We always overlook her tendencies! Dismiss her to be incapable of destruction, but with time she will grow more violent and come to destroy us all, our kingdom, our love! But you are the PRINCE! You can end this all, you must do something, and make a change….

Narrator: The princess held his hands and fixed her calm eyes on his exasperated ones. He responded by squeezing her hands in his, looking down at her with a slightly blurred vision.

Prince Henrik: I am aware of that. But...Bettina….you say it so easily, as if it were completely simple...for one to overpower the Enchantress of Tusconia, just like that. You dream and wish for so many things, but you must realize the reality….that things cannot be solved so easily as it is in your mind. That things cannot always come true as you have planned so in your dreams.

Narrator: The princess bowed her head in defeat and closed her eyes shut unable to hold her stare any longer. So many people she had known…her father, her sister, even her nephew….would advise her not to dream of such unrealistic possibilities….that the world is a very harsh actuality, there was no room for idealistic imaginings and ideas. She felt Henrik's hand move away from hers and up to her face. He cupped her chin, slightly moving it up so that their eyes would both meet again.

Prince Henrik: But I do promise that we will be together forever, somehow! We'll do whatever it takes to be together, even if we need to make….a few adjustments or...a few sacrifices. I promise Bettina, matters with Charla will be settled!….I promise, no more running away! We'll go back to the Palace, assemble our best troops and battle our way through this! I'm sure we will succeed...do not worry!

Narrator: Before she could question him any further about his plans, he interrupted her by pulling her towards the ledge of the window. She sighed as she settled for what would be a less than magical life with Henrik….most probably running away and dodging troubled waters in such a manner. Even if he had vowed to "take action", she was very sure the sweet Prince would never commit to violence and engage in something as drastic as a war. He had only promised to do such a thing to persuade Bettina..."It would be most probable that he would try and compromise with the evil enchantress instead" she sighed to herself. The princess had dreamed of an overly romantic rescue so many times. Her knight in shining armor, coming to her rescue, sweeping her off her feet, and walking off into the sunset...with nothing else so worry about. Just the two of them. She hoped it would come true some day...

Princess Bettina: I suppose this will do. As long as I'm with-

Prince Henrik: WATCH OUT!

Narrator: Her hand had slipped away from Henrik's who had been a little too late to catch the princess in time. The princess plummeted a few feet down, falling right on her back. Dazed, she looked up to see a concerned Henrik, wrinkles forming around his forehead as he called her name….

Prince Henrik: Are you alright my dear?

Princess Bettina: Aye…
