He thinks she'll say yes. Actually, he knows that she will. He's just not sure how he'll do it, or where they'll live, or whether or not they'll ever regret the sacrifices they'll make for each other because yes, opposites attract but it doesn't mean that it's easy. In fact, loving her at times was downright infuriating. But he can't help it; he loves her more than words can express. And out of anyone that she could have, she chose to love him back.
They broke up once, for five months. In that time he had helped discover a distant, oxygren-rich planet, published a paper on the electromagnetic radiation, and won an award for his study of black holes. In that time she landed a major cosmetic contract and the September issue of Vogue. They had never been more miserable.
After a month the press ran a photo of her kissing an A-lister on a yaht that he knew was most definitely not for a movie or a photoshoot. And as much as he tried to convince everyone he was okay, it didn't stop him from drunkingly singing "Cecilia" while out with his friends because well, she did break his heart and she did shake his confidence daily.
What he didn't know at the time was that even though she had slept with that A-lister, she had cried for a month after because it just made her miss their relationship more.
Being apart did nothing for them. They were much better when they were together.

She loves him. She loves that he challenges her, that he finds her wild spirit comforting instead of "endearing" or "interesting" the way other people do in a patronizing manner. She loves that he never fails to remind her despite all her other projects, that dance is her true love. She loves the way that he looks at her like she's his everything, that in a room full of beautiful women or in a room full of smart women (sometimes it's both, which is even worse), she never has to worry. He makes her feel secure, and she loves it.
She doesn't know how he'll propose, or when he'll do it. She doesn't care if he doesn't have the ring when he does, or what their future holds. She just knows that when the time comes, she will say yes.
It's simple and perfect and unexpected. It's spring, the flowers have all bloomed, and they're taking a post-lunch stroll through a flower garden when he suddenly drops down on one knee and tells her that though he stares at stars for a living, she's the brightest star he's ever seen.

And on their wedding day, she tells him that even though she surrounds herself with stars for a living, he's the only one that ever mattered.
