Chapter 1

In a private lobby located on Ancho V- Games...

"HAHA!" Kira laughed as she threw her opponent's guard off and swung at the legs, making them fall. She grinned as she held the roller in front of them and gave them a determined look. "Gotcha, Akari."

Akari, an Octoling with purple curly tentacles and violet eyes pouted and got up, holding her dualie squelchers across her arms. "No fair, you and that dang roller are too much for me!" She wore pilot goggles atop her head and neo octoling armor and boots.

The inkling with bright aquamarine hair swept over to the right to imitate a shaved pixie cut. She wore studio headphones, a marianated top, and pearlescent kicks. She posed the roller slung across her shoulder and smiled. "Don't worry too much Kari, it's just practice before we get you into your first Turf War match."

"Yeah, but how am I gonna be a valuable asset to the team if I can't even dodge roll away from a splashdown?" She wondered.

Kira grinned sheepishly. "Sorry about that. I just LOVE seeing their faces once I get the drop on them."

Akari and Kira walked out of the lobby as Akari kept talking to her. "You seriously need to learn what, 'going easy' means before I attempt to do Turf War against you again."

"Guess I do." The inkling commented as she escorted Akari to the square. "Welp. Guess I'll see you tomorrow?"

She nodded eagerly. "Of course! See you Kira!" and left the Inkling alone to do her business.

As soon as the Octoling was out of sight, her phone rang and on the other line was none other than her good friend. "'Ello?"

"Hey, Agent 4? It's Agent 2. We need you at the platoon ASAP." Her voice was calm, but Kira sounded concerned as she made her way to the entrance, hero gear in hand.

"What's wrong? Is Captain or Agent 1 in trouble again?"

"Not necessarily." She continued. We just need you here to discuss something."

Kira shrugged and continued on her way. "Well, mission or not, I'm on my way."

Arriving at Octo Canyon, Kira had her hero roller slung over her shoulder and her hero gear equipped. Her hero headphones glowed a red color and her sleek jacket and boots shined in the sun.

"Agent 2? I'm here!" She called out.

Marie stepped out of the shack and smiled in relief. "Oh thank cod you're here. We need to discuss something urgent."

"And what would that be?" Agent 4, Kira's agent name, asked the worried Inkling.

She pointed to a diagram. "The Mini Zapfish from Arowana Mall has vanished. If you can go into Octo Canyon and retrieve it, that would be great."

"You got it." Kira replied and headed off with her mission in mind, but just as she was about to reach the edge of the canyon, she tripped over something unseen to her and it hurt like hell.

"OW!" Kira yelled and held her ankle. "Now what the hell was that!?" Getting up, she drew her hero roller and uncovered the secret entrance in aquamarine ink, her eyes widening as she saw the

What the hell? This was never here before, was it? Wonder where it leads?

Just as Kira was about to enter it, she quickly realised she had a mission to do.

My mission! Aw shit! I'll need to finish that first before I go down there. She thought as she searched for the Octarians who took the zapfish by heading to a base located in Moray Towers.

Moray Towers was crawling with Octolings and Octosnipers.

"Okay, the energy readings show that the Zapfish is somewhere here." Kira sighed as she prepped her roller. "Let's get to splatting."

She painted her turf and swam through the ink, thinking carefully about how she'll approach each mini zapfish.

A curling bomb followed by a vertical swing should do the trick. She thought to herself as she threw a curling bomb towards the zapfish and swam her way there, where she was greeted by an Octarian with a rapid blaster. But was quickly taken out by Kira's up-close vertical swing.

"Gotcha." She snickered as she freed the first zapfish. "Now I need to take care of those OctoSnipers before I deal with the other Zapfish." She swung at an ink rail and swam through it, seeing the red lines aimed at her made her feel uneasy. "Oh shit here we go!"

They shot relentlessly as she made her best effort to dodge each fire from the Octosnipers, leaping into a cannon. "Asta La Vista Octarians!"

BAM! BOOM! SPLAT!

They were splatted in two fires from the cannon. Kira leapt out quickly and made her way to a Tenta Missle Can. Ripping it open, she used it to scare the Octarians out of hiding and splatted a few before freeing the zapfish from their enclosures.

"Okay. Only two left... Where are they?"

Agent 3 chimed in. "There should be one near the top of the enemy tower."

Kira grinned as she heard Agent 3's voice. "Gotcha 3. I'm on it!" Kira used another curling bomb to paint her path and waited to strike.

"Come here you gullible rat..." She cooed quietly as she saw an Octoling with kelp atop their head approach her trail of ink. "Closer... Closer..."

The Octoling aimed their gun at the ink but yelped as Kira leapt out and crushed the poor Octoling and splatted them.

"Now that's what I call a crushing defeat!" She laughed as she made her way to free the zapfish, but yelped as she tripped over a sprinkler. "OH COME ON! That's the second time today!" She destroyed the sprinkler with aggravation as she continued her trek up the tower's ramp.

"You Okay Agent 4?" Marie asked.

She groaned inwardly. "Yeah... I'm fine, just tripped over a misplaced sprinkler..."

"How do you manage to do that exactly?" Agent 3 wondered.

"I dunno. But it hurt my ankles." Kira replied and made her way to the final zapfish, but was exhausted. "Good Cod, why do these little assholes keep stealing the zapfish? It's like they're ASKING to get their asses handed to them."

Marie chimed in. "Guess it's because they need another power source too?"

"I thought that was evident." Agent 3 replied and cheered a bit as Kira completed her mission.

"I'm on my way back. Don't have too much fun without me." Agent 4 chuckled as she swam back to the Tentakeel Outpost.

Agent 3 had a long, wavy pink tentacle, her hero headphones looked much different that Agent 4's. They had a safety vest on over a black shirt and glowing sneakers. "Hey, good job on your mission." She smiled. "You're really good."

"Thanks a ton Agent 3." Kira replied and smiled back. "Say, how's life going for you Aurora?"

She shrugged. "It's okay. Nothing more than my siblings being my siblings."

"Its understandable, but I'm just saying that because I was born an only child." Kira said with some confidence.

"...You still surprise me and I trained you." She muttered.

Kira laughed. "Guess I do. I thought you'd know me well by now."

Aurora laughed as well. "Same here."

Marie smiled. "The Zapfish are safe thanks to you Agent 4. "

She rubbed her neck and smiled. "Aw shucks. You don't have to say it's all my doing. Couldn't have done it without you and Agent 3 guiding me." She looked away and back near the entrance where she found that hidden kettle that lead to cod-who-knows-where. She stared at it intently until she was interrupted by Aurora's hand.

"You coming back to Inkopolis? We need to celebrate!"

Kira nodded quickly. "Yeah, just got lost in my thoughts. I'll be there in a minute."

Agent 3 nodded and went over to the grate that led to Inkopolis.

That entrance I found on my way to Moray Towers was hidden in plain sight... As far as 'plain in sight' here in Octo Canyon is considered... I guess, maybe I could tell Aurora and Agent 8 what I found before I went to my mission... But how would she react?
