Disclaimer: Harry Potter, et al. do not belong to me. Also, the idea for this ficlet came from rachet (livejournal) while discussing ships after book five, although it doesn't actually contain any true spoilers. If you haven't read the fifth book, the only thing you won't get is why I think this ship is good.
Summary: It's the last day of school, and the last chance for Harry to see his 'true love'. Contains minimal fluff. H/ try to guess! Mwahahahaha... Yeah, evil, I know.
The last day of school had finally come. Finally, the time had come to spread their wings and fly away from their nest. The nest that had been their home for seven long, adventurous, fun-filled, yet stressful all the same, years. Finally, Ron and Harry would be on their way to Auror training, and Hermione would be attending a muggle college to learn a few new things before choosing a profession.
None of them really wanted to leave. Sure, they were excited to get out into the real world and live their lives, but there was the small reluctance to leave their home...
Harry sighed as he thought about her... He would really miss her when he left. He knew he loved her, but he hadn't gotten the courage to tell her yet. He knew he'd have to tell her soon, preferably that night, as he might never see her again. Auror training would be his life for several years to follow, and he doubted he'd see anyone at all for a long time. He frowned at that thought, and as he looked at the time, he realized that he should be meeting her now. She would be at their secret meeting spot, waiting, and he would be a bit late as always. He smiled and decided that he would profess his love for her as soon as possible.
He pulled his invisibility cloak on, and headed out of the dorm. Quietly and stealthily, he avoided the other seventh years who were caught up in their celebrations, and slipped out through the portrait hole. He walked slowly and quietly outside, practising a few ways to tell her. He finally decided on a way to tell her, and smiled as he walked a little faster.
After several minutes of walking, he finally reached the Whomping Willow. He grinned as he saw his love, and he finished the walk up to her. He opened his mouth to say something, then blushed and shut his mouth again. I need to say it, somehow, someway. He took a deep breath, and made eye contact with his love. "I have to tell you something.. I just can't hold it back much longer. I love you." His eyes turned hopeful as he stared straight into her own beautiful eyes.
All he got for a response was a loving thwack on the head by the Whomping Willow. Harry grinned as he fell over and slowly slipped into unconsciousness. I knew she felt the same way…
A/N: Hope you enjoyed reading my Harry/Whomping Willow ficlet; I wrote this while my internet was out. I'm sure that most of you agree that Harry needs a good whomp over the head ;) If this looks familiar, it's cause I had it posted under a different username. So I figure I might as well entertain all 50 of you on my alerts list or whatever. I'm sure you all appreciate the imagery. :) Also, apologies for shortness. Is a simple little thwack, so not much to write about, and hard to pull off without giving it away too much. That, and I'm lazy.
