Staying
The day was young. The weather was pleasant. The animals were content and the farmhouse was busy. Hikari was struggling to calm Haruka and Chiyoko. They had contracted an illness. Hikari had stuck a no visitors allowed sign outside their home just in case. How she ever found the time to do so would forever remain a mystery.
"I'm too… hot…" Haruka groaned.
He kicked the covers away slowly. His right arm was flung lethargically over his eyes. His cheeks were bright red as were his ears. He had a fever – an oddly persistent one, at that.
"Mama, I'm hungry," Chiyoko whimpered.
She was tucked under a single cover. Her fever came and went; sometimes becoming a chill. The smell of food made her nauseas. She had resisted all food that came remotely near her.
"We have toast!" Hikari exclaimed, racing to her daughter's side.
Chiyoko wrinkled her nose in disgust. A quick glare from her mother quickly ended all forms of protest. She shoved the warm bread into her mouth and shuddered.
"We have a compress," Hikari sighed, sitting by Haruka.
He sighed tiredly. His eyelids began to droop. His hands fell from his chest. He rolled onto his side and curled into a tight ball.
"How are you?" Ignis' voice called as he appeared in the room.
He was greeted by a profoundly displeased glower. Hikari looked him over once before she folded her arms in disapproval. However, she kept her thoughts to herself. A soft sound reached her ears and she hurried past him.
"Ack! Mama, I need a tissue!" Chiyoko croaked as loudly as she could.
"Eurgh… I need a bucket," Haruka's voice was unusually nasally.
The two children rolled from side to side. The beds were creaking in protest. They didn't care. The fever was making them agitated. They couldn't feel comfortable no matter what position they took.
"What is happening?" Ignis frowned.
Hikari bustled past him; hauling fifty items with her. "The children are sick. The house has been quarantined. No one is allowed in. The children can't entertain any guests,"
"I see…" Ignis murmured. "If that is the case, I-"
A demented Hikari grabbed his arm. "The house is under quarantine. No one comes in and no one leaves whilst the children are ill,"
"I cannot fall ill," he reminded her.
"You're not leaving me with this! They're your children too so get to work!" she pushed him towards the stove. "Stir the soup with the ladle. Haruka can't keep down any other kind of food. Chiyoko needs a cold compress so soak the cloth. We need mops and brushes and there are plastic bags under the sink. While you're at it you can bring the other bucket. It looks like we'll need it!"
Author's Note: I used up almost all of the battery on stupid City Hunter. This is so much better and easier. I haven't played the game before. I only watched some clips. I hope that's enough. I'm sorry if I got some things wrong. Thank you for reading. I hope that you liked my piece.
