"Ero-Sennin believed in me. So, I will believe in what Ero-Sennin believed in."
Nagato stared at Naruto, as if trying to register his words. How could he possibly say that?! Didn't he realize how improbable that sounded?
"So you'll believe in what Jiraiya Sensei believed in. If that's the case, then what do we do?! Sit here and wait for you to bring peace?! Give me a break! How can I believe in Jiraiya-sensei now? As long as we live in this accursed world, there will be no real peace!"
"Then…I will break that curse. I there is such a thing as peace, I will find it. I will never give up!" Naruto shouted in response, his eyes burning with fires of determinations as he stared Nagato down.
Naruto stumbled along the path to Konoha. He was exhausted. Fighting Nagato and almost completely releasing the Kyuubi had worn out even him. 'Damn, I can't walk any further. I'll just close my eyes for a second. Yeah, that's right. Just a sec…'
"What the hell is that?!" Naruto exccalimed, cutting off his own thoughts. He was freaking out as he watched the malevolent, orange chakra of the Kyuubi was filtering out of him going towards a hole in the sky. Slowly, his own chakra began slipping from his grasp, merging with the orange.
'Crap! Not good! Not good!'
He tried to hold on, to pull it back to himself, but it was a losing battle. "What is this?!"
He was too exhausted to do anything but slow down the escaping chakra. It was then that he had a genius idea; one that most likely changed the fate of the world.
Stilling himself completely, he let go of the hold he had on his chakra. Naruto began to gather natural energy in an attempt to regain his strength and pull back the chakra. The hole stopped absorbing his chakra and started absorbing the natural energy instead.
Naruto let out a sigh of relief as the hole finally absorbed the natural energy after a few minutes and halted its earlier chakra absorbing.
"I thought I was done for!"
However, as soon as he exclaimed his joyous statement, the hole appeared to grow in size. It restarted the absorption of chakra with a vengeance, easily overwhelming Naruto's struggles as he futilely tried to save his chakra.
Two seconds. That's how long it took for all his chakra to be absorbed. And that's how long it took for Uzumaki Naruto, Hero of Konoha and Child of Prophecy to forever disappear from the Elemental Nations.
"What hit me?" aas Naruto's first thought as he eased himself off the ground. Opening his eyes, he immediately closed them at the glaring brightness. Forcing himself to open his eyes, he tried to remember exactly what had happened.
He remembered fighting Pain, and then…
As if some mental barrier had been broken, his memories came rushing back to him. He remembered fighting Pain and winning; talking to Nagato; convincing him of what he believed in; and then, the hole in the sky. He remembered being sucked into the swirling madness that brought him here and then darkness. Looking around, he saw himself to be in a forest much different from the one where he was just at.
"Where the hell am I? Is this another one of Akatsuki's tricks?" He said aloud, curious. Slowly picking himself off the ground, Naruto grunted as he felt his body scream in protest. Taking out a kunai from his pouch, he readied himself for a fight. He stood still, channeling the natural energy around himself. Within moments, his eyes gained the telltale pigment of Sage Mode.
A few minutes passed, and there was still no sign of Akatsuki. Or any enemies for that matter.
'If this isn't Akatsuki's doing, then how did I get here? The thing looked a lot like Kakashi-sensei's technique…What was it called again? Oh yeah! Kamui? But, it felt different. It didn't feel like Kakashi-sensei's.' Naruto thought to himself as he continued glancing suspiciously around the area, looking for any signs of enemies.
"May as well see where the hell I am," Naruto decided.
Glancing up at the sun, wincing as he did so, he determined it was still early morning. He stretched his senses, greatly boosted by Safe Mode, to the max, attempting to find any signs of civilization.
For a while, he sensed nothing but the natural energy around him and the various forms of animal life. He ignored the bird that landed on his head, chirping, and also the family of squirrels that ran around his feet.
'C'mon, there had to be something.'
Finally, he felt something. It was a large concentration of energy gathering southwards. Naruto decided that it would be his best bet to find out where he was. Taking a step forward, he almost immediately dropped in exhaustion.
"I forgot I was so tired. May as well sleep it off," he muttered, irritated at his lack of strength.
He formed a lazy handsign, gathering the remains of the natural energy in his body.
"Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!"
Five clones popped to life around him, immediately spreading out to take watchful positions in the trees to protect their creator as he slept. Naruto blearily blinked his eyes, lying down and making himself comfortable. Closing his eyes, he let sleep take him only moments later.
When Naruto finally woke up, it was around mid-afternoon. Yawning loudly, he got up and stretched, easing the slight kinks that came from lying on the hard ground. "I guess I'll go and check out exactly where that chakra was coming from."
Remembering the direction where it originated from, he turned around and began walking, still too weak to run, though he could feel the Kyuubi restoring his muscles and healing the other injuries he had sustained in the fight. As he walked, he mulled over the possibilities of what could have happened to land him in this strange place.
"If I remember it right, Kakashi-sensei's Kamui is a space-time ninjutsu that transports things to a different dimension. The hole in the sky felt a lot like Kamui…" Naruto trailed off, groaning. "If what I'm thinking is right, then I could be in a totally different dimension."
When Naruto said this, he himself didn't immediately register exactly what he had said. After a few moments, it clicked in his head.
"Wait…different dimension…oh crap! How the hell am I gonna get back to Konoha?! How am I gonna be Hokage?! How am I gonna beat Akatsuki?!" Naruto shouted his questions to no one in particular, startling small insects and animals around him.
"Wait, that's it! Come out, Akatsuki! I'll fight every last one of you if I have to!" Naruto screamed as he looked around himself wildly. While he knew he was truly no match if multiple Akatsuki members appeared in his current state, it was certainly more assuring to know it was them behind the hole in the sky rather than some mystery source.
He waited, yet there was still no sign of any Akatsuki members. 'Either they're really enjoying me freaking out, or I really am in another dimension.'
Naruto shook his head, clearing his head as he attempted to calm down. 'I need information, and the best way would be to get to that place with lots of chakra. It's probably a town or village cuz of all the chakra signatures I'm sensing from the place.'
With this thought in mind, Naruto began his trek to the mysterious place which he assumed to be a village.
It was a few hours of walking later when Naruto felt himself getting closer. As he did, he couldn't help but notice the chakra coming from the energy source felt different, more potent and closer to natural energy rather than regular chakra.
'I wonder why?' he mused to himself, though he truly didn't think much of it.
He was so lost in thought that he didn't notice a sign reading 'Magnolia Town' in front of him, causing him to collide into a wooden pole.
"Ow!" He exclaimed, rubbing his now sore forehead, now turning red from hitting the pole. Ignoring the pain, he looked past the sign, seeing a rather large town. It was closer to a city due to the size, but he idly noted that it was nowhere near the size of Konoha.
"This place is pretty big," he muttered, looking as he saw rows upon rows of buildings, each with different signs broadcasting different services. Calling it a town was really misleading, though the size did explain the mass of chakra signatures he had sensed, though the weird energy was still unexplained.
"Now where should I go to first?" He said to himself, a finger on his chin as he thought.
"Need some help, lad?" A voice called from behind him. It took him be surprise, and all of his self-control was placed into not jumping and bringing out a kunai at whoever had called to him. Behind him was what appeared to be a sailor, dressed in baggy white pants with a red shirt, complete with a heavy black overcoat.
"Ah actually I do," he admitted, not seeing anything particularly threatening about the man, though his hand did inch slightly closer to his equipment pouch. "Could you tell me where I am?
"Sure lad! Yer in Magnolia Town right now. The name's Bert by the way. Anything else ya' need?" The newly dubbed Bert answered.
Naruto considered what he could ask the man next. 'I need to make sure where all that weird energy is coming from so I don't accidentally stumble into Akatsuki's base if they have something to do with this.'
"Actually yeah. I keep sensing a large concentration of energy from somewhere in town. Can you tell me what it is?" Naruto asked curiously.
"Ya must not be from around here lad. Everyone knows that this is the town that the famous Guild Fairy Tail is in. It's a pretty big place." Bert answered.
Naruto blinked, tilting his head in confusion. 'What the hell is a Guild?'
Outwardly, he merely shook his head. "I'm sorry I don't know what a Guild is." In response to his statement, the man blinked owlishly.
"How do ya not know what a Guild is lad? But to answer your question, I suppose a Guild would be a place where mages gather to perform jobs." Bert answered gruffly.
As he spoke, Naruto's mind was racing. 'Guilds? Sounds almost like hidden villages. But mages? What the hell! Magic is for freaking kids! But, I guess civilians do think that chakra is kinda like magic. But, then again, he could be telling the truth about this magic thing. I need to do some more research, probably at the library.' Naruto groaned to himself. He hated the library. It was so depressing and quiet. Mentally steeling himself, he prepared for his impossible task.
"Oh! In my hometown we just called them by a different name. Anyway, could you tell me where the library is?" Naruto said. The man chuckled. "No problem lad. Just go straight and then take a right at the second turn and follow the path. It should take you there. For a second there, I thought you really didn't know what Guilds were. Funny, eh?"
Naruto chuckled as well, though his was far more nervous sounding. "Yeah, funny."
Having said that, he practically bolted from the man, yelling a quick 'thank you' on the way.
'Alright. I really need to figure out what the hell is going on.'
It was a few minutes before he arrived at the library, following Bert's directions. He couldn't help but marvel at the size structure of the building. It was far larger than the Konoha General Public Library, and looked much more unique. Going inside, he was immediately greeted by the librarian.
"Hi! How may I help you?" The aging librarian asked pleasantly, regarding the young blond-haired boy in front of her. He didn't seem to be the library type, but it always pleased her heart to see more and more youth reading on topics of their choice.
Naruto gave her a grin in response.
"Hey! Could you give me some books on Guilds and magic?"
"No problem! Just second," she replied, pressing finger to her head. Her finger began glowing, and a moment later, a couple books flew from their shelves toward the desk.
Naruto looked on wide-eyed at the spectacle. 'So that's magic?'
"That was epic!"
The librarian laughed lightly as she picked up the books. Many children and teenagers tended to appreciate her branch of Archive Magic, despite it not being as extravagant as other magics.
A few minutes later, Naruto was sitting at one of the various tables in the library with 3 books in front of him. Pausing a moment to read the titles, he decided to pick the one that appeared to be about magic was.
"Magic for Dummies, huh? This should be interesting." Naruto muttered to himself before beginning to read the book. Despite his earlier hesitation, he truly was interested in what magic was like.
The more he read however, the more interested he grew in this new form of energy. 'Magic is the physical embodiment of the spirit. When the physical spirit of an organism connects with the spiritual flow of nature, the spirit forms Magic as a product of the connection. Only ten percent of the world's population is able to use magic, which is noted to keep a balance between ordinary people and magic users.'
'It takes an enormous amount of concentration and mental ability to use magic. Mages can learn multiple styles of magic, but it is noteworthy that many Mages have natural affinities for their own Magic. Magic itself has been around for centuries. Every type of magic comes from The One Magic, the original source of all types of magic, and there are three main types: Caster Magic, Holder Magic and Lost Magic. It comes in practically any thinkable form, from elemental attacks to everyday spells. Magic, once oppressed and feared, but gradually became an everyday phenomenon.'
Mentally he was going through what he had just read. 'So Magic is like chakra, except it's only the physical part of it. And they connect with the flow of nature. So that's why the energy I was feeling felt a lot like natural energy. Only ten percent of the people on the continent are able to use magic, so I guess it's different from chakra.'
Naruto paused, thinking about one thing he had read in particular. 'This One Magic sounds interesting...I wonder where it came from?'
Now finished with his reading, he returned the books and left the library. Deciding he needed to clear his head and think for a bit, Naruto began moving towards a forested area, where he sensed little people.
Arriving to his destination of choice, Naruto sat down and considered his next plan of action. "I still don't understand what's going on. From all this, it seems like I really am in another dimension. But what was that swirling hole that brought me here? And how. I need more information, but I don't think going to the library again will be a very good idea. People will surely begin to notice. And the library is the best place to get information, other than a Magic guild itself." he paused a moment, suddenly considering the perks of joining the guild that was in this town.
'But then I'll need a cover story and a disguise. I'll have to make sure I refer to my jutsu as magic as well. Harder said than done, cause I don't even know how magic is used in the first place. I'll probably be winging it with the magic, and I suppose I can pull a Kakashi-sensei if they ask me to tell about myself. I'll say I'm from some random village in the south that got destroyed by a really powerful mage, and that I was the only one who escaped or something. It technically isn't a lie, since that is what happened to Konoha.'
"So many things can go wrong if I mess up," he said, frowning lightly, thinking back to all of his friends and comrades in Konoha. He had been so caught up with the rush of traveling dimensions that he hadn't even thought of how they might be after Nagato's attack. Granted, he remembered Nagato sacrificing himself to revive everyone, but what came beyond that?
Furthermore, how would he be able to go back to his own dimension? It's not like he could just willingly teleport-
Naruto stopped as the thought came to him. "That's it! I'll use Kuchiyose no Jutsu!"
He excitedly brought his hand to his mouth, biting down on his thumb. The skin tore easily, blood flowing as he made the seals required for the jutsu. Gathering his chakra, he slammed his hand on the ground.
"Kuchiyose no Jutsu!" He exclaimed, resulting in a humongous poof of smoke!
He eagerly waited for it to clear, wondering who he had summoned, but was quickly disappointed to see that nothing was there once the smoke had cleared. It had simply been from the dispersion of chakra that had nowhere to go.
He tried again, making the seals and channeling his chakra much more carefully this time.
Nothing.
"Shit," he cursed in frustration, rubbing a hand through his head. Now how was he to return home?
"That swirling hole...I'm sure it was some kind of magic..." he trailed off as he looked to where he sensed the natural- no, magical energy.
"Fairy Tail," he said, recalling the name that Bert had said to him. "I'm gonna need information, and starting there is as good of a place as any."
He cracked his knuckles, rolling his head. "I'm gonna find a way back and defeat Madara, no matter what it takes!"
Fairy Tail had better be ready.
The Wind Shadow was coming.

Author's Notes
Alright! I'm done chapter one. Now this is a re-upload of chapter 1. If any of you read the first story (Kazekage of Fairy Tail), you'd have noticed it was much longer, over 6k words. This story is much shorter than that one, and probably will only reach 6k after the third chapter. The original was called Kazekage of Fairy Tail, and honestly, it was pretty bad. It was too fast paced, and I did rush things a bit. Also, there were some complaints that too many unbelievable things happened, and that is true. I did make Naruto more trusting than he should have and definitely more rushed.
This was slightly slower in that Naruto actually took some time to do research and asked around. Naruto is going to Fairy Tail to find some more information about the different dimensions and magic in general and possible ways to get back to the Elemental Nations. Also, he DOES need money. Before arguments that Naruto can live off the land arise, there is also the fact that people will be bound to see him or at least get suspicious of him training at times, and then he won't be able to do research as freely. There were also some problems with paragraph format that I tried to fix. Kazekage of Fairy Tail is still up for comparisons to see if this is better or worse. Other chapters should be here soon.
PS: Kazekage of Fairy Tail was taken down a looooooooong time ago.
12/13/2014: Light editing to fix up the grammar mistakes and such is now complete! It's now closer to my current style of writing, and the overall language should be better. No actual content changes, cuz I really didn't feel the need for it.
1/09/2015: Added some extra content with the Kuchiyose no Jutsu scene, plus more language improvements. Nothing major. Moving to work on Chapter 2.
Review and enjoy.
HokagenoNaruto, out.
