Rounding the street corner Clary could see them. Out of the corner of her eye she could make out the dark eerie figures of the men who had been following her. Clary didn't know how she knew that they were following her she just knew; a small voice in the back of her mind told her that these men were not good. That these men's intentions were not for her wellbeing.

The group started yelling now. Obscene things that made her cringe. All Clary wanted to do was cover her ears and run. But she had the feeling that these guys were similar to a pack of animals if she ran they would surely follow. The yelling got louder now incorporated with cat calls and disturbing pet names.

She picked up her pace as she walked down the abandoned city street, its lights flickering ominously around her. With every step she took Clary chastised herself for her careless mistakes, for not calling a cab thinking the walk would do her good, for taking the late shift at the restaurant she was a waitress at, for deciding to take this stupid shortcut through alleys and past loud bars filled with drunk and creepy men. But the worst thing, the thing she most regretted was not saying goodbye to her family.

Clary didn't even remember why she was angry at them; it was probably just another small thing like making her do her chores or embarrassing her in front of her friends. She would trade her soul just to say goodbye, to apologize.

Pulling out her phone she dialed 911 knowing it was useless but seeing no other options. As it was dialing tears began to fall down her face and loud sobs racked through her body. Bringing the phone to her ear. Clary told the person her whereabouts and that there were men following her. The woman told her to try her hardest to get away, so Clary did she sprinted as fast as she could down the road screaming for help.

It was no use she thought as she felt strong arms wrap around her waist and hot breath down her neck. Clary was thrown to the ground her head cracking loudly against the sidewalk. She heard the distant sound of sirens in the background and the men cursing and running off, not before one of them gave her a good kick in the ribs undoubtedly breaking a couple.

Black was creeping in to the edges of her vision. Abruptly a face flashed across her mind, golden and beautiful in every way. "Jace… love you" she whispered before she was pulled under.
