Positive Reinforcement

Comments: Um, wow. My second VexenDemyx in less than 24 hours. I think it's the Root Beer... I've only had Root Beer to drink for the last 2 days... Okay, Root Beer is the official soft drink of VexDem. Woot.
Don't own, still want my own Vexen and my own Demyx... I can dream! -huff.-

"Why're you so cold?" Demyx had asked Vexen one day.
It was a simple question sprouted from curiousity. Vexen's jacket was always cold to the touch, and saying that he kept his lab 'chilled' would be an understatement. Especially to Demyx and Axel, it felt like the North Frickin' Pole.
Vexen's only answer was, "Perhaps it has something to do with my power."
The Melodious Nocturne chuckled. "Then how come I'm not melting into the floor?" he inquired.
Anyone who said that Demyx was an idiot had never really talked to him. Demyx acted as everyone expected him to. It was the best way to get attention, and the best way for him to remember what it was like to feel, even if those feelings were the less desirable ones: sadness, disappointment, and loneliness. Out of all the Nobodies, only Demyx's desire to get a heart rivalled Xemnas's. Everyone else had something to occupy themselves until Kingdom Hearts came; Zexion had books and schemes, Marluxia had Larxene, Axel had Roxas, Lexaeus had his garden... Luxord and Xigbar got drunk, played cards, or wreaked havoc on the poor ears of whoever was unlucky enough to want a midnight snack. Demyx had nothing... only his sitar.
Which was probably why he loved the thing so damned much.
'Perhaps,' Vexen pondered, 'Demyx is just looking for a little positive reinforcement.'
"Number IX," he began, as he picked up a beaker, "would you like to help me with an experiment?"
Demyx's dark teal eyes lit up. "Re-really? I won't be a bother?" he stammered anxiously.
"Not at all," Vexen replied. "In fact, I think you might be just the Nobody I need..."
Positive reinforcement, of course, had to be earned, as Demyx learned that night in the lab.
He also learned that Vexen was not so cold underneath his jacket.
"Vexen..." Demyx mumbled as he cuddled against the older Nobody. "Why do you let everyone think you're so cold?" he asked, kissing the pale expanse of skin.
Vexen raked his hand through the dirty blond mullet and pondered that.
'Perhaps,' he decided, 'it's because times like this wouldn't be as special to you if I didn't.'
