"Oh, no you don't! If you can buy me a Ferrari for my birthday, I can get you something for yours!"

A slightly defeated look crossed Edward's face. Emmett chuckled.

"Geez, Edward, it's not like she bought you anything huge, like an island or something."

I could feel the faint guilt in my eyes as Edward studied my face carefully.

"You didn't, did you?"

"Well," I tried to sound innocent "I thought, so we wouldn't have to keep stealing Isle Esme. It's just a little one, in the Caribbean, by Cuba. It's called Isla Renesme. It's only 100 square miles of beach and jungle; nothing huge." I paused. Edward's face was blank, but I sensed something like shock in his eyes.

"Edward?"

His face was still blank, but his eyes were getting wider.

"Edward?" I said frantically. He looked like he was going to explode.

He did.

"Bella Marie Cullen!" he laughed out loud. "Why do you look so guilty?"

My jaw dropped a little. Alice let out a tinkling, angelic laugh she's apparently been trying to suppress.

"You're not mad?"

"Mad? Why would I be mad? Bella, you bought an island! It's not like you blew the family fortune. And it was a good idea, too. If you hadn't, I probably would have bought one myself."

I sighed. "Well that's a relief."

Edward continued to chuckle, and Alice giggled every once in a while. Emmett smirked. "Hah, alright, so maybe she did buy you an island."

Edward started laughing again. Alice's face puckered a little, "When are you going to get used to the idea of spending money?"

"You would know," Edward said.

"I would," Alice agreed. "And I do."

Edward's eyes widened. "That long?"

I frowned. "How long?"

He shook his head. "Too long."

"Well, I'm sorry, but I just don't like spending your-"

Edward cut me off. "Bella you're part of this family now, too. What's mine is yours. You've got to get used to it."

I shook my head. Edward sighed. "We'll get it into your head somehow. Alice can take you on a shopping trip..."

Alice clapped her hands. "Good, we'll go tomorrow, up to Seattle. Renesme and Rose can come, too." I sighed. Edward nodded his approval. Emmett chuckled again. Yet another shopping trip with Alice to endure. I was always careful not to look at the receipts. They scared me too much.

"Thanks, Alice," Renesme smiled, although she had told me very pointedly that she didn't like the shopping trips any more than I did.

Alice smiled blissfully and traipsed up the stairs. I eyed Edward, scowling. "Thanks so much."

Edward grinned. "Your fault," he shrugged. "Somehow I'll get you used to the idea."

I sighed again. Edward and his ideas...
