Author notes/disclaimer: I do not own the Haruhi Suzumiya series or any of its characters.

The myth of Nagato.

It was a late and crisp October afternoon when I went over to the SOS Brigade's room, which was technically still the Literary Club's, but only one of them read for pleasure. It was even more cluttered than I had remembered, but I would expect no less from Haruhi-chan. The aluminum baseball bat on top of a shelf in a corner was one of the object that would have puzzled lesser mortals. The rack full of costumes for Mikuru-chan was a conforming sight. The oversized frog costume was one I hadn't noticed before. I would have to ask sometime how they acquired that. I saw that there was only one person in the room with me: Yuki Nagato. She was reading, as she normally did. I glaced at the title of the book she was reading, which was Le Mythe de Sisyph. Since she rarely looked up from her reading, and wasn't much for talking, I started talking to her.

"I knew you were smart, Nagato, but reading Camus in its original language, that's megas hardcore." I said

"Inquiry, hardcore Tsuruya-san?" she said

I laughed. "You should cosplay as Data from Star Trek. You got his lines down, nyoro"

"I see. I have never heard the word hardcore used in the vernacular, but I seem to understand now from the context of your sentence. I also will take your suggestion into advisement although I do not see the utility of such a measure"

Getting her to talk to me was start, at least. "Do you think they key to existence is as Camus argues.? That we should revolt, be free and live with passion? Or do you see refuge in a higher power as Kirkegaard posited?

"I….do not know."

"Surely, you are seeking answers, that you want to find meaning in all of this" I said.

"Yes, I am. I am confused by some…..inconsistencies" Yuki said

"That's life in nutshell, isn't it?"

"Yes" she said.

"How do you like the Myth of Sisyphus, Nagato?"

"It is unique, Tsuruya-san"

I suppose I wasn't going to get much more out of her about that. "I brought over some smoked cheese. Do you want to share, nyoro?"

"That would be good" she said.

I brought out my smoked cheese from my knapsack, and let Yuki have some. She then tilted her head slightly and asked me "If being free meant that I would have to revolt against what I believe in, do you think freedom or honor is more important?"

I thought for a moment. "Both are important, but freedom should not be overlooked as one of most necessary and fundamental things. You aren't really have much honor without the freedom to act honorably right? As long as your freedom doesn't encroach on someone else's, I'd say that you should be free." I paused for a moment and then asked her "Do you think moe has reached critical mass with the fine works by Kyoto Animation like K-ON! And Clannad?"

Yuki thought for a moment and said "You are an interesting person, Tsuruya-san. Moe is here to stay I think, and Kyoto Animation always does great work, so as long as they continue as they are, I see no problems with moe"

"Perhaps we should have our own appreciation event for Kyoto Animation's works. I can think of no better activity with a friend like you" I said. And then he shared a great meal as we ate some superb smoked cheese

THE END

A/N: Please review this story. I would like to know if I got the characterization right. I also want to know if you would like to see more Yuki and Tsuruya scenes.
