Chapter One:

The jungles of the Amazon are full of life and noise at all times. Home to some of the world's most amazing & exotic animals & plants, it is also said that once, long ago, the Amazon rainforests were home to the legendary female warriors known as the Amazons. No evidence has ever been found of their actual existence…but that's only because they're very good at hiding it.

Deep within a hidden valley far into the Amazon, a large ruin can be found. Covering several miles, the largest ruin in the middle, this is the City of the Amazons. But this is just an illusion. The city is still there, still whole, still full of life, not slowly crumbling to dust like it seems. The Amazons still live in their city, although they are hidden from the eyes of those who don't believe or those who the Amazons do not wish to be seen by.

The rainforest shook with the sound of thunderous paws on the forest floor. A giant black lion, small girl astride his back, followed a well-worn trail through the dense foliage, giving chase to a deer-like creature. The girl, holding a bow in one hand and reaching for an arrow on her back with the other, balanced on the lion's great back & aimed at the deer. Taking a deep breath, time seemed to slow down as the arrow was released & flew through the air, heading straight for a soft spot in the deer's side. As the deadly projectile met its mark, the deer tumbled to the ground in a mess of limbs. The lion slowed to a stop & the girl leapt to the ground, slowly making her way to the wounded creature struggling on the ground. She crouched down next to the deer's head, pulled out a large, sharp knife and eased the knife into the back of the deer's skull, quietly ending it's suffering. Suddenly, a large wolf-like beast erupted from the camouflage of the jungle, bowling the lion over. The lion, caught by surprise, tried to fight back and at the same time, evade the wolf's snapping jaws. In a moment of strength, the lion pushed the wolf off and slammed it into tree. The wolf quickly shook off the wooziness and charged at the lion, this time slamming him into a tree, effectively knocking the lion out. Just as the wolf was about to finish the lion off with a slash of a well-used claw, the girl leapt in front of the lion, trying to protect her friend. The claws of the wolf descended and everything seemed to slow down. The girl lifted her knife in a vain attempt to stop or wound the wolf. Then, she cried out as she felt the sharp claws rake down her arm, but thankfully miss her vitals. Expecting a second blow, she shut her eyes tightly and waited for the darkness. All she heard was a mangled yelp. Slowly opening her eyes, she saw the wolf. It's throat was torn open, blood spilling everywhere. Looking about in wonder, she saw that the lion had unsteadily regained his feet and blood –the wolf's blood– covered his maw and mane. Seeing her friend alive and well, the girl smiled. That smile quickly faded as she looked down at her arm. She seemed to freeze, seeing her wound and the blood dripping down her arm. Then the girl slowly looked up at the lion, and promptly fainted, succumbing to the dark & peace of her mind.
