Artemus made a quick switch from hiding behind the chair to being reluctant (downright belligerent) about giving the cub up. The mother leopard they donated to the Washington zoo, but snuck away with baby leopard in tow. Jim bounced between amused and exasperated, depending on what the girl had chewed that day. Jim half hoped to drop her off the next round in Washington, but the hope faded as the days went by and she ate, played, and slept in their beds. Maybe they'd train her to eat Loveless.
Artemus named her Sasha; Jim knew she was there to stay.
