Ingrid stared down at her feet and took an unnecessary deep breath. It had been weeks since Renfield had cured her, but the illness had left her unsteady on her feet. If she'd been able to stand, she would have throttled Vlad the second he pushed the wheelchair into her room. She had regained her strength gradually since then, and yet couldn't quite bring herself to leave the chair on her own.
"You're going to have to move eventually, Ingrid." Erin was watching her from the other side of the room, a book held loosely in her hands.
Ingrid looked at her and pushed at the chair's wheels as if to say, I am moving. Erin shook her head and turned flicked the page of her book. The Count was right; Twilight was quite funny when you knew what vampires were really like.
...
She barely registered the sound of her coffin opening. The pillow to the face was hard to miss.
"Come on, up!" Ingrid sat up straight, eyes flashing red as she stared at the young blonde.
"How dare you-"
"You can save the threats, just get up." Erin had her arms outstretched now and Ingrid eyed her warily.
"Why are you doing this?"
Erin smirked. "Because I'm tired of helping you up and down stairs and hearing you threaten to slaughter the door frames every time you bump into them. Now come on." She wiggled her fingers for emphasis, watching the older vampire expectantly.
Ingrid just stared at her for a long moment, rolled her eyes and grabbed Erin's hands.
For her part, Erin held onto her, even when Ingrid's foot caught on the edge of her coffin and she stumbled out. "It's alright," Erin grinned at her, straightening her up. "There. You're standing."
"If you say I told you so..." Ingrid muttered, looking up from the floor to meet Erin's eyes.
"I won't. It's just nice to see you on your feet." She beamed, and before Ingrid even realised what was happening the smaller girl was kissing her. When they broke apart Ingrid looked at her, confused. As she moved to push forwards Erin ducked out of the way, walking quickly over to the door.
"Where are you going!" Ingrid glared at her.
"I got you standing. How about we see if you can run?" Erin flashed her a smirk and jogged out of the room.
Ingrid growled as she stalked after her, legs still wobbling slightly, but even she couldn't keep the smirk from her own face. She'd make a real vampire of the girl yet.
