Hey guys! Long time no write! I'm so sorry about that, life has been so chaotic these past few years! But I have continued to work on Our Last Hope, so much so that I actually started to rewrite it. I wasn't happy about how I had originally written it and decided to start fresh. Hope you guys enjoy! Also, I do not own Naruto or any of its characters! Enjoy guys! XD ~KoreChan 3
I remember always feeling sad on the anniversary of the massacre. At first I didn't understand why, and anytime I tried to ask my parents about it they quickly changed the subject. From that moment on I always knew they were hiding something from me, and it wasn't until I almost died that I would finally discover just what it was they were hiding.
It was a cool, spring evening, and many of the citizens of Konoha were getting ready to turn in for the night. It was a peaceful evening, or so it seemed. Little did the villagers know the true horrors that were taking place only feet from their homes. A beautiful woman ran as fast as she could, desperately hoping she wouldn't be discovered.
"I have to keep moving! If I stop, he'll find me, or worse he'll find her!" the woman thought to herself. "If he catches up with me he'll find her! No! No I can't let my fear or the pain get to me. I have to stay focused, otherwise I won't cover my tracks well and he'll find us. Focus. FOCUS!"
She continued to run through the Forest of Death as fast as her legs could carry, her long brown hair whipping around her face. "I sure as hell can't die here, that would be too damn ironic. But at this rate, I'm not gonna last much longer…." She could feel her real body slowing down, the blood loss had truly taken its toll on her. She could tell her real body was quickly fading. But she didn't dare stop, she couldn't, not when she was so close.
She looked down at the unconscious eight year old in her arms. If she stopped to rest she knew she would never move again, and her child would be found and killed. "I'm so sorry, you don't deserve to have to go through this. But you aren't safe, as long as your abilities remain unsealed he won't stop till he finds you and steals your eyes. So until you're old enough the seal Itachi and I placed on your memories and powers will protect and hide you from him. I'm so sorry about all this sweetheart. I love you so much don't ever forget that. I will always love you my precious flower.
The child began to stir in her arms just a she reached her destination. It was a small house but it fit its occupants so well. She reached the door and knocked, it opened moments later revealing a woman with blonde hair and vivid emerald orbs.
"Shina?! What are you doing here….Oh my God! What on earth happened to you? We need to get you to a doctor right now!" Mebuki questioned. Upon hearing this a man entered the room.
"Shina's here? Oh God! What on earth happened? Mebuki is right, you need a doctor, now!" Kizashi stated.
"Doctors won't help, I'm only a shadow clone, my real body is back at the house. But never mind that, I need your help. The Uchiha Clan is being massacred as we speak, and he knows about us, about our eyes. Kizashi, Mebuki, he knows about her. But we already knew this was going to happen, I predicted it months ago with my Omoikane. I sealed her memories and powers and had Itachi reinforce my seal with one of his own so that when I died the seal would still hold."
Kizashi interjected, "You're not going to die Shina, you're way too strong to be taken down by someone like him."
"I wish you were right about that, but I can feel my real body fading, and fast. I managed to trick him into thinking I killed her and destroyed her eyes in order to keep him from stealing them. But he could figure out it's just a genjutsu at any time. Not to mention there's no way to tell how long my genjutsu will last after I die. It could last a few minutes or it could last a few years. I don't know for sure." Shina explained.
"And you're absolutely sure the seals will hold?" Mebuki questioned
"The only way these seals should break is if Itachi releases it or she meets his sharingan face to face. Don't look at me like that, we all knew this day was coming. That's why we planned all this out. Although Itachi has no idea what's happen to me yet. I figured it was better not to put an even greater burden upon his shoulders. This whole situation has been extremely hard on him." Kizashi and Mebuki nodded their heads in agreement.
"How badly is your real body hurt?" Kizashi asked
"It's pretty bad, I don't have much time left. Which is why I was in such a hurry. I've made all the necessary arrangements."
"Do we really need to go through with this? Is there nothing we can do? She's going to need you, she's going to need her mother!" Mebuki questioned, "What about the Hokage? Surely he can stop this! Wasn't he working on a treaty with the Uchiha?"
"Yes, the Hokage was trying however, Danzo decided to go against the Hokage's wishes. In all honesty, I don't think Lord Hokage even knows what's happened yet. But in any case, it's my job to make sure he doesn't find her. She's the only one whose eyes can easily overpower Madara, and he knows it. That's why he wants to find her so badly, but I pray my genjutsu will hold and he will never find her. But if he does, the seal will be released and she will be in for the fight of her life. She's the only one who can rid the world of Madara Uchiha and stop his evil plans for this world."
"But if her memories are sealed, how will she learn to control her abilities?" Mebuki asked.
"Shina has been training her for a few years now, and from what I saw, she's a quick study." Kizashi beamed "After all, have you met Shina." Mebuki laughed
"She mastered her abilities much faster than I did." Shina laughed.
"I guess you have a point." Mebuki turned, "Shina, I swear I will do everything in my power to make sure your daughter has a happy and full life. I will love her as if she were my own. I swear, I'll love her enough for the both of us. Right Dear?"
"Of course" Kizashi smiled.
"Well then, looks like my time is up." Shina smiled, "As of this moment, she is Sakura Haruno." and with that, Shina's shadow clone disappeared just as Sakura began to stir.
"She's only eight and has already lost everything…." Mebuki mumbled to herself.
I lost everything that night
The worst part was,
I didn't even know what I had lost.
