A/N This is a birthday fic for PSNC100502 (Patti). Sorry that it's about a day late sweetie. So I hope you like it. And I use real names here simply because she gave me her real name. And I like his real name. Spoilers to the Kurt Russell version of Poseidon Adventure!
Patti yawned and woke up. She sleepily stretched out her hand, expecting to bump into her boyfriend's hard body. When she didn't, she sat up and looked around. Colby was nowhere to be found. She sighed. He forgot. Oh well. And to top it off, it was raining!
Patti hopped out of bed and padded to the bathroom. She figured a nice shower would be a good way to start her birthday. She stepped into the shower and sighed, smelling her raspberry shampoo and Colby's musky cologne. She smiled.
She jumped up and turned when she felt arms around her and the shower stop. Colby stood there with that boyish grin she loved so much. He led her to the hot tub where rose petal s and berries lay spread about, the berries in containers. She hadn't noticed all this or him when she walked in.
"Did you think I forgot?" She nodded shamefully. He just chuckled and playfully shoved her in the hot tub.
"And don't come out till I say so," he told her as he closed the door, leaving his scent linger in the air. She smiled and sunk down into the bubbling water, settling next to the water jet and relaxing. She ate several of the berries and smiled again. She was foolish to think that he would forget her day. He never forgot anything.
About an hour passed before she heard Colby yell her name from downstairs. Curious, she threw her robe on and wandered towards the sound of his voice. It was coming from the kitchen. When she walked in, she was beyond surprised.
All of her favorite breakfast foods, all the berries and pancakes she could ever even try to eat, were laid out on the counter. He stood by the sink, a single long stemmed red rose in hand. He was amazing to her.
They ate in almost silence. After they finished, she wrapped her arms around him from behind and settled her head between his shoulder blades and hugged him tightly. She felt his laughter, and his hands came up to cover hers on his chest. She jumped on his back and he gave her a piggy back ride into the living room. He sat her down on the couch and hopped over it. He put in her favorite movie (Poseidon Adventure) And sat next to her. She cuddled into his side and watched the movie.
Everything was calm and silent until Jenn told her dad about the ring Chris gave her. Patti felt Colby shift.
"I like how he accepts that his baby has grown up. I wonder how your dad would feel?" She shrugged.
"Wanna find out?" Colby grabbed her hand and put an ring identical to Jenn's on her finger. She looked up into those chocolate eyes. He smiled. All she could do was nod. He kissed her gently, and carried her upstairs, the movie long forgotten.
Later they laid curled up in bed again, simply talking.
"You're amazing Colby. And here I thought you forgot!"
"Nah. How could I forget my love's birthday?" It was true, She thought. Colby had the biggest heart. She just smiled and leaned up to kiss him again. He held her hand in his over that heart and looked at the newly placed ring.
"I love you."
