Percy woke up to the sound of rustling in the kitchen. He immediately grabbed riptide. He looked over to Annabeth's side making sure she was right there next to him unharmed. Next he though of his four year old daughter Kayla in the room next to theirs. His eyes opened in alarm, thoughts of all sorts running around his mind. He jumped up and slowly approached the door next to his. Silently he opened the door to find and empty bed and Kayla's night light on. Percy quietly but quickly made his way around checking all the rooms on the top floor then he made is way down the stairs to find a monster staring right into the eyes of a cowering Kayla. "Well, well, well a little quater blood we have here don't we Perseus Jackson?" the monster growled at him. "Don't you even think about touching her !" Percy yelled at the monster. "But she so small and tasty looking why don't I take her now no harm done?" the monster sneered at both Percy and Kayla. "D-daddy" Kaylas eyes were full of fear as she has never seen anything like this in her life. Those last words the monster spoke hit Percy hard no one hurts or even thinks about hurting his family, and then Percy jumped into action slashing at the monster with full on rage. Once the monster was gone and was turned into a pile of golden dust he turned to his daughter. "Kay are you okay did you get hurt?" he asked but in reply what he got was his daughters eyes watering full of fear but there was no monster here anymore now she was looking at her father with tears streaming down her face not scared by the recent monster but her own father. "Kayla?" he asked with softness in his eyes. Kayla ran back upstairs into Percy and Annabeth's room. Percy ran upstairs opened the door to find a woken up Annabeth shushing her daughter. Percy advanced only one step before Kayla screamed and hid under her moms arms. "Mommy he's going to hurt me I saw him he had a sword and killed a monster, MOMMY!" Kayla went into hysterics as he moved closer. "Percy" Annabeth said telling him not to come closer. "Kay?" Percy asked grief written on his face. The four year old looked at him but not in the eyes. "Kayla I don't want to hurt you I was worried about the monster hurting you Im sorry I scared you my little pearl please forgive me I would never even think about hurting you, thats my job you know to protect you from those things. Can you forgive me Kay?" he said tears welling up in the corners of his eyes. Kayla nodded as Percy sighed in relief as his daughter un tangled herself from Annabeth and ran into Percys arms. Percy picked up his daughter while spinning her around and she giggled and pretended to be flying. It was obvious that the family was wide awake so the all sat on the master bed telling Kayla about who they were, then they fell asleep together as a whole family who would have each others back no matter what.
