A/N: Howdy, all. My computer broke! Gak! But anyway, here's another drabble. Enjoy.

Don't break his heart.
It's a promise she made long ago, when everything was simpler. Before Pippa was the enemy, before Felicity got pregnant with a Gypsy's child, before Ann became a whore to pay for Spence.
It's a promise that binds her, directs most of her actions. She knows exactly what will hurt her father, and what will not.
So she hasn't seen Ann for over a year, and she and Felicity killed the unborn child in the realms. Felicity is an empty shell, now. She wanted the child, even though it would ruin her. She wanted someone to love her for real, as no one had ever done before.
But she can't be seen with an unwed mother, and she couldn't bear to lose, Ann, Pippa and Felicity. So she gave her friend an ultimatum: the realms or the baby. She knows Felicity thinks she chose wrongly, and hates her because of it.
It's the promise that makes her push Kartik away, go back to Simon Middleton. And Kartik disappeared into the night, after she ruined his life. He left the Rakshana, because he thought she'd always be there. But now, he has no one. For all she knows, he's dead.
But her father walked her down the aisle, looks at his granddaughter with such pride. The girl doesn't have any power. She will never enter the realms, or be free. She is a beautiful girl, as beautiful as Pippa was. She will go on to marry a Lord, or a naval officer, a rich man who desires her for her beauty and nothing more.
But she never broke his heart.

A/N: Sort of OOC, I know. I just thought, since everyone always has Gemma rising above it all, what if she didn't? What if she decided something was more important? The result was the above monstrosity.
