You'll Come Back
"You'll come back."
The dark haired girl asked with her hand rested delicately upon her locks as they fell across the grassy area. Her tone was commanding as well as questioning in a voice which gave way to a mediocre sense of sorrow. Mai had never been good with showing her feelings for someone she shouldn't love.
After all, he was much higher than her in more ways than one.
The sun began to burn at her pale skin as her red cloak kept in the heat of the day; though as uncomfortable as it became she stayed. The scent of his own sweat intoxicating her senses as she watched the beads of sweat pour down his face. He could have left any moment when she had arrived. He stayed.
"I must complete my mission, for -,"
"Do I intimidate you?"
Her monotone voice had cut off his sentence. She knew if he spoke it would become finality. Raising her arm she brushed away the black hair from her own damp forehead and turned her head to face into the cloudy sky as it seemed a dark day for such an occurrence.
He heard his deep chuckle and allowed herself to smirk sheepishly at her question. It was rather out of place for someone of her own age and stature compared to him. Her dark eyes turned to look at him as he stared up at the sky as well; beads of perspiration slid down his mature face and allowed her the moment of a smile. She can only find herself watching him lie there besides her.
Would it be the last?
Such a thing would haunt her. To capture the Avatar would be a hard task upon them both.
"I can only fathom the nadir I must face when you depart,"'
Sliding her arms around his thick armor, she felt herself feel secure and safe. It was wrong, morally, but within the grassy plains of Mai's courtyard it felt like a life waiting to be joined and lived. A life Mai would have enjoyed living.
A final, rare, smile graced her lips in almost a promising tone she muttered.
"If you do not succeed, Admiral Zhao, I will be force to hunt the Avatar myself."
You all thought it was Zuko wasn't it? Ha ha. Go Zhao. He needs more love.
