"Go! Go! Everyone get out! Head for the square!" frantic Peacekeepers yell, following a terrifying boom, which literally shakes the ground, sending some of the fence to collapse.

The mines had exploded, sending clouds colored gray drifting into the air carrying massive loads of soot along with it, covering everything and anything that crosses its path.

Katniss speeds up her packing hands as she hears the second explosion, heart pounding dangerously fast against her chest. Prim, and mother are set on quickly packing the food and anything else they can't leave behind, while she's stuck with packing up the little number of clothes they own, and the blankets that haven't worn out yet.

Suddenly, there's intense pounding on our frail door which breaks off as the visitor frantically tries to break the door down. A tall muscular figure jumps through the doorway, delivering a layer of smoke and soot to cover their small home. She had expected it to be Father, (this figure ahead had strikingly similar features) coming home safely telling everyone that he wasn't in the mines, but out in the forest hunting for supper. But Katniss knew he was out in the mines...

"Gale!" Katniss exclaims, her hands fumbling to buckle the suitcase shut (now filled with the rest of their belongings), adrenaline racing.

"Catnip, hurry we have to go now!" Gale said trying to regain his breath, but instead sucked up one of the soot clouds, which sent him into a coughing fit. He held out his hand, and Katniss firmly took it, dragging Prim and Mother behind her.

"Where's Hazelle?!" Katniss yells over the screaming.

"Everyone is already at the square!" He shouts in reply. "Hurry!"

They quickly speed walk to the square. Prim had some troubles keeping up, and Mother began to scream for her husband as they passed what used to be the mine entrance. All that's left now is a giant black hole in the ground, with clouds of smoke spewing out like the hands Hades beckoning more souls to join him.

A/N... Haha it's kinda... I don't really know... Short, but its an intro to see if people are interested enough to find out what happens NEXT!
