There's this girl who lives on the other side of the creek. No one knows her real name because anytime you ask her what it is she'll give you a new one. Some people say her name is Jill, some say it's Susan, and others still believe it's Laura. No one can ever figure out what her name is so when they want to talk to her they just yell "Hey, girl! You there!" to get her attention. She lives by herself on the other side of the creek in a tree house that she made for herself when she first crossed. She has many comforters, quilts, and sheets that she falls asleep on every night. She has some books that she bought and read in a couple stacks to keep her company on rainy days. She has her canned foods and can opener on a shelf next to a tiny wooden stove that's used for both cooking and warmth in the cold months. But the oddest part about the girl is that she lives alone.

That girl just came into town one day all by herself, went across that creek to build a tree house, and now she lives there. Some of the townsfolk wanted to get her out of that tree house as it was much too dangerous to let that girl live by herself up there but every time they got her down from that tree house and back to town she would simply collect some food and clothes and go back to her tree house. Eventually the townsfolk stopped worrying about her as she always seemed healthy enough.

The girl has lived in that tree house for about five years now. She came when she was eleven and now she is going to turn sixteen in two weeks. But today something odd has happened, today a lady came into town, she looked to be in her late forties, she crossed the creek and went straight into the tree house where the girl lives. The townsfolk were now asking questions to themselves, who was this lady? Does she know someone lives there? Could she be the girl's mother? Or is she some kind of robber? The townsfolk were confused, but not as confused as they were when the lady returned to the town with the girl following her. The girl waved goodbye to the people she had lived near to for five years and they waved back.

Just like that, the girl was gone. Never to come back. She left all her things, all the people, and walked off to who knows where with the lady who found her.

What the townsfolk didn't know was that the woman's name was Miss Peregrine and she had come to take the girl to her home for peculiar children.

A/N: I hope this was an okay first chapter and wasn't too hard to follow along with. The rest of the story won't be written in this format, I just wanted the introduction to be narrated by some kind of all knowing god because I think it's easier to explain details like that.
