It was her hair. Jade had barely noticed her existence until the chocolate turned into blood, until the red hair put a bright blotch in her dark vision.
All of a sudden it was all she could see.
Soon her vision expanded and her eyes caught more of that bright blur. Lips, long lashes, tanned skin, brown eyes. They joined the red hair and refused to leave.
Then a name came with it. "Cat," he informed her with a smile on his face.
Jade made sure to wipe that smile off his face. It wouldn't be until much later that she would come to realize it wasn't because Beck belonged to her, but because Cat wasn't hers.
