Rythian laughed as he lead a very drunk Ravs to the guest bedroom. It took him a couple tries, but Rythian managed to get the fumbling bartender through the narrow doorway. Rythian said his goodnights and laughed quietly to himself as he shut the door. He and Zoey had thrown a small Christmas party that night, and invited a few friends. Wrapping paper was sprawled across the floor under the small Christmas tree in the corner that Zoey had decorated the day before. He wandered over to Zoey, who was covering a sleeping Teep with a blanket. When she stood, Rythian wrapped his arms around her from behind.
"He sure is cute," Zoey sighed, watching the dinosaur's chest slowly rise and fall. Rythian smiled as Zoey leaned into Rythian. The soft song that had been playing in the background ended and a new song began.
"May I have this dance?" Rythian offered his hand to Zoey. Zoey giggled and took it.
"But of course." She replied, giving a small curtsy. Rythian smiled again and lead Zoey in a waltz across the room. She giggled in delight as Rythian twirled her.
"I didn't know you could dance!" She exclaimed when the song ended. Rythian laughed softly as Zoey wrapped her arms around his neck. Rythian's smile faded as he looked into her big blue eyes. His heart longed to be with her forever, but he didn't know if he could trust her.
"Zoey when you left me..." Rythian began and Zoey looked away, almost embarrassed. She didn't want to talk about this now.
"Rythian, I..." She started but Rythian interrupted her.
"When you left me, I missed you so much." Rythian looked into Zoey's eyes, willing her to meet his gaze. "Please, Zoey, promise me you won't leave me again." Zoey didn't want to leave Rythian, but could she promise?
"I need you around. I can't stand this world without you around." Rythian closed his eyes as he finished. "Zoey, I- I love you." Zoey leaned closer, their faces only inches apart. Rythian opened his eyes and Zoey stared into them. These were the violet eyes that have protected her and cared for her, eyes she had learned to trust.
"I love you too." Zoey's voice was no louder than a whisper. She leaned closer, they were so close their faces almost touched. "And I promise, I will never leave you." Rythian leaned closer, until their lips touched. He kissed Zoey softly. Zoey buried her face in Rythian's chest, memorizing everything about him. She turned her head and noticed Teep's eyes flickered.
"Teep! Your awake!" Zoey took a surprised step away from Rythian. Teep opened his eyes and sat up, Rythian laughed.
"It's late, we should all be asleep." Rythian pulled Zoey closer. "Merry Christmas."
Zoey giggled and replied, "Merry Christmas to you too." Teep thumped his tail on the ground, reminding them of his presence.
Rythian chuckled, "Let's get to bed."
