Authoress's Note: This is a songfic; I know they're not allowed, but this is different; it's more of a prompt by lyrics. The song is called 'Stay' by Miley Cyrus, and I don't own it, as well as I don't own InuYasha by Rumiko Takahashi.
*Takes place on the last episode of InuYasha : The Final Act whenever Kagome get's sent back to her time.
And this is short, Sorry.
Read and Review... :)
"Say you love me more than you did before,
And I'm sorry it's this way,
But I'm coming home, I'll be coming home,
And if you ask me I will stay, I will stay,"
- Stay, Miley Cyrus
She sat in silence on the top step of the shrine's stairs as she looked out at the Goshinboku tree, wishing that she could see them again—see him again. Her mother was incessantly chattering to her brother, she could easily hear her voice, and that was the same. Her grandpa soon joined in on the conversation, and she instantly felt the familiarity in it—that never changed either. The only thing that became alien to her was that she wasn't living the life that she grew used to... the life that she grew accustomed to two years ago.
It's been two years since she was allowed back into the well, and now she was finished with highschool, moping about the Sacred Tree, or sitting on the lip of the Boneater's Well. Though, this time she was considerate enough not to do it when her family was around—she couldn't hurt them like this—to let them see that she wasn't happy here. But, she didn't want to be here.
Sometimes when she stayed near the Goshinboku long enough, it was as if she could hear his voice again... like she could feel his presence again. And other times, when she stayed near the well, she could feel the breeze and smell the fresh air of the Sengoku Jidai... but then she'd open her eyes and realize it was just wishful thinking.
I miss you, she thought, staring directly at the sacred tree to allow it to be her messenger.
It was the next day and a stiffled feeling in her gut grew to be more pronounced as she set the table with her mother for breakfast time. Her brother and grandfather weren't quite there yet, doing something or other somewhere in the family room. The stronger the feeling got, the more she felt that she couldn't explain it to anyone, not even her mother as she felt herself moving toward the door with a light gasp.
She knew exactly where she was going.
"Haha-ue," she called softly over her shoulder. "I"m going to visit the well..."
"Be back soon," her mother replied shortly with a smile.
Kagome nodded and took off in a dead sprint , running aimlessly to the shrine. InuYasha... please... be there.

She stared into the well as the wind seemed to grow stronger near the base. She felt guilty that she wouldn't be able to keep her promise to her mother, but hoped that maybe she could visit her, she'd understand wouldn't she? She hadn't seen InuYasha and the gang in two years... Her mother had basically sent her her permission throughout her time away from them that she didn't mind that she wanted to be happy. So why was she worried?
She looked down into the well, feeling the energy spike, and soon enough she could see the clear blue sky of the past, the clouds and small tufts of leaves passing by in the wind. It was time to go back.
She laughed joyiously climbing onto the lip of the well before she let herself fall to the bottom, tears filling her eyes as she felt the overwhelming energy of space and time cloak her, letting her live again.
"And I love you more than I did before,
And if today, I don't see your face,
Nothing's changed, no one can take your place,
It get's harder everyday,"
