"Falling" By Florence and The Machine
The pain was excruciating. The only thing I gained from the capitol brutally punishing and torturing me was I got to see Katniss. Even if it was just a hallucination. I could recall her beautiful eyes, and the way her dimples stood out when she smiled-
Then I felt it.
They had removed the leg they gave me after the first hunger games in a VERY brutal way. It was only moments after that, that unconsciousness blessed me with its presence.
I woke up to a searing pain in my ear. There was a noice coming from a speaker that was located an inch away from my ear. It wasn't the distance that bothered me, or the fact that my vision was getting clouded. The noise coming from the speaker was a cry. A cry from someone I know. Knew. It was a cry coming from the girl I was madly in love with. I didn't know if she was alive, if she was dead, or if the capitol had her in a position that was just like mine. If she was alive I wish she would be safe in district 13 or better yet the forest. They would shield her from all the evil people seeking her out and there would be nothing in the trees she. Or Gale. couldn't fight. She could live to see Prim grow up.
Even with the horrible searing pain in my head, my ear, and my leg I smiled. It wasn't a humorous smile, but a smile of hope. A flash of memories flooded my mind from the past few days. What was it Finnick had said when Katniss was stuck in the Jungle listening to Prim's screaming? "Could they do that Beetee? Take someone's regular voice and make it..."
"Oh, yes. It's not even that difficult Finnick. Our children learn a similar technique in school."
That was it. Katniss could possibly be alive. The capitol might not even have her. A laughter escaped my lips shaking my entire frame. After it got out it became hard to control myself, and eventually happy, silent tears down my face. I scooted over-the very little amount I could considering I was tied down-closer to the speaker. I put all my concentration on the frequencies of her tone and pitch of her voice. After hours of analyzing it with my mind I figured out what she was saying.
"PEETA!" That was what she was saying. I racked my mind for any memory that could trigger it. THE QUELL! When I had hit the invisible armour. She had screamed out my name when she thought I had died. I turned my head over to look at the piece keeper who had a gun strapped to his chest, with his eyes narrowed in slits. He had a wicked smile across his face as if he enjoyed seeing me in pain. ".." It seemed to go on forever, but little did the peacekeepers know, was that it became a lullaby. "Peeta. Peeta. Peeta." I could live a thousand years, walk a billion miles listening to that voice. It wasn't killing me. It was actually the only thing in this world that could keep me alive at the current moment.
