Move On

It didn't escape Cam's notice that when she was released from the hospital, he wasn't there. Nor did it escape her notice that when Booth told her he'd had Parker, he'd mentioned Brennan as well.

She knew it was over.

Oh, he wouldn't say it until she was properly recovered. He was too polite and moral for that. He'd never dump her while she was recovering from her stint at death's door. But he would, as soon as he thought it appropriate.

He'd feel responsible. She knew he would. And so would Brennan. And in that shared guilt, their bond would solidify. Had solidified, by the sound of it. They'd been flirting and dancing around their thing for so long, and she'd waited and hoped he'd see that she was there for him...

But he hadn't. He didn't realize she was actually in love with him, she guessed, and by now she knew he was in love with Brennan. Maybe it was time to find another job. Move, claim to not like the drama that came with the lab and dealing with Brennan. Most of the world would accept it, she'd just have to avoid Booth or Brennan for a while. That way, she'd just be out of the way, and he wouldn't feel guilty.

It was something to think about. If there was one thing Booth had taught her, it was that when you wanted something, you needed to go for it, guns blazing, and if you failed... you failed. And where Booth would perservere, she needed to let go, for both their sakes. It was time to move on.
