"Is she here yet? I need everything to be absolutely perfect!"

A young boy with a rose quartz stick in his belly was pacing around the kitchen room in a nice tux. This boy's name was Steven and he was part of a group of worldly protectors known as the Crystal Gems. His job is to protect his town and the rest of the world from deadly crystal creatures and off world threats. However, he does not fight alone, for he has three other Gems to help him. They are Garnet, the most calm and sophisticated of the three, Amethyst, the most wild and carefree, and Pearl, who is the most cautious and at times, a complete perfectionist. All four of them have faced deadly challenges in the past such as an invasion from homeworld but now, peace was made between the Gems and Human's the reign of the Diamond Authority was over, and now the Gems and Steven were able to live a good life free of struggles, or so they thought.

It has been three years since the defeat of Homeworld and things on earth have returned to, as per the perspective of things, normal. Many of the Gems such as Peridot and Lapis returned to homeworld to begin the restoration of the worlds that were once destroyed by the Authority as well as their own. But for Steven, the Crystal Gems stayed with him as his family, and tonight, they are helping Steven with one of his most difficult challenges of his life: Preparing for his upcoming anniversary of his relationship with the young bookworm named Connie Maheswaran, his sparring partner, counterpart for Stevonnie, and obvious love interest. All the other gems were helping Steven get ready for this date and no one, not even Amethyst, wanted anything to ruin this special moment for him after everything he went through.

"Try to relax Steven." Pearl said as she tried to calm Steven down. "This may be your third-year anniversary, but you two have known each other for much longer. You're going to be just fine.

Steven looked up at the tall, pointy-nosed woman before him. Of all the three gems, Pearl was the one who he had the biggest bond to. Ever since he was a baby and his mother sacrificed herself to create him, she did a spot-on job of taking the role as mother.

"But what if I say something that hurts her feelings, or what if I send a wrong message or-!"

"Steven!" Pearl interjected. "This is Connie we're talking about. I doubt there's anything that you could say or do that would-"

Before he could continue rambling, he was interrupted by the sound of a door knocking and then opening.

"YO STEVEN!" a voice shouted from the hallway, this was the voice of Amethyst, the more laidback and "creative" of the three Gems. "YOUR GIRLFRIEND IS HERE! SHOULD I GET THE RUBBERS OUT FOR NOW OR LATER?"

Steven and Pearl paused in shock and quickly dashed into the room to try to stop Amethyst, who was now being carried away from Connie by a larger woman with large reflective glasses and a large afro. This was Garnet, and although she does not talk much, her actions speak louder than her words.

"Rubber flotation devices," Garnet said in her soothing calm voice as she held Amethyst under her arm like a newspaper, "Like… rubber boats or arm floaties. In case you want to swim on your date?"

Pearl sighed in relief; leave it to Garnet to solve a problem created by Amethyst.

"Heh…yeah, thanks for that, but we won't need that tonight." Steven sheepishly replied, turning red and sweaty as he averted his gaze from everyone.

"I mean, not that we'll need it any night." Steven continued, his face now redder than Ruby trying to thread a needle.

"N-I don't mean we won't ever-I mean-" Steven stammered, his words just shot out in embarrassment as he continued to look away from the Gems, as well as a figure that was starting to enter the door.

"What he means is…" The figure slyly interjected as the Gems turned towards her, this figure was none other than Connie Maheswaran, the sword fighting daughter of a doctor and security guard, who was watching the spectacle with such amusement. "…that we'll be able to handle ourselves if we decide to get a little… "wet" tonight."

Aware of the obvious innuendo, everyone stopped dead in response to what Connie just said. This silence was then broken with an ear raping "YOOOOOOO!" From Amethyst, which was only stopped when Garnet lightly bopped her with her gauntlet.

"You got yourself a keeper there Stev-o!" Amethyst said as she rubbed her head, perfectly aware of the stink-eye that Pearl was giving her.

"Yeah, I guess I…" Steven replied as Steven turned his attention to Connie, his heart just stopped. As well as his brain, causing him to trail off at the glorious sight before him "Yeah…"

Connie was beautiful; she was wearing a lovely cream dress, which brought out her glowing features. In addition to a red head band for her hair, she was even wearing the glowing bracelet from when they first met, which had lost its glow long ago. Even though she was not a Crystal Gem, she was the closest thing to one in Steven's eyes.

"So…" the young girl asked as she head her arm out for the Gem, her assertive nature and energy made her look even cuter. "…are you ready to go?"

Steven was still transfixed by Connie's divinity, but quickly snapped out of the hypnosis. "That depends…" He stated in his coolest voice he could muster, brushing back his hair and then extending his hand towards his girlfriend in the most bishonen way possible.

"Are you ready to have the bestest date of your life?" Steven asked, eyebrow raised, a look was on his face that would be described as a "smolder" look.

Steven and Connie stared at each other for a solid minute before Connie began to snicker, which then evolved into a chuckle, which then grew into a full laugh. She then took Steven's arm and pulled him out of the house, laughing all the way along with Steven.

…and with that, the two lovebirds were quickly out the door.

As soon as the door shut, the Gems watched as Connie and Steven ran across the beach laughing. Then came the familiar sound an Amethyst sniggering, which resulted in Garnet smiling and Pearl cringing. Like Connie, soon Amethyst erupted into a hearty, but pitched chortle.

Oh man, did you see that?" Amethyst said between breaths. "That was amazing!"

Amethyst continued to laugh as she wandered around the room, all the while her two Gem counterparts watched the purple Gem tease Steven.

"Everything has to be absolutely perfect for my precious cinnamon bun" Amethyst said mockingly as she placed her hands towards her face in a romantic pose, before breaking down into more laughter.

As Amethyst continued to roast Steven, Garnet watched with a smile on her face. While it was common for Amethyst nature to pick on the boy, the Gems knew that she did care for Steven, and would never truly hurt him. Besides, that was a bit over-the-top.

But while Garnet was watching Amethyst clown around, she didn't notice that Pearl, who watched in uncharacteristically silent, didn't find the jokes to be that funny. Garnet then heard a blade summon as she turned to see Pearl with her spear in hand. Before she could do anything, the long-nosed gem was already lunging at Amethyst.

"Are you ready…" Amethyst chortled as she flipped her hair back in an overdramatic mocking manner, "…for the best date of your…"

The next thing Amethyst knew, or felt, she was grabbed and thrown onto the stare wall and fell to the floor like a rag doll. As she rose her head from the floor she looked to Pearl, who stood before her with a cold glare.

"Pearl! It's just a joke!" Amethyst yelled as she rubbed her head, looking back at the crack in the wall before looking back to Pearl "What the hell is wrong with-"

Amethyst's words suddenly halted as she saw Pearl leap towards her with her spear aimed at the fallen Gem. Amethyst flinched and looked away as she heard a *shink* along with a feeling of a blade inches above her head. Amethyst then looked up and saw the spear of Pearl right above her. The blade was deep into the wall behind her. Amethyst could only look to the blade with shock. The blade was so close, that not only were several of her hairs were perfectly pinned to the wall, but the purple Gem could see her own reflection in the weapon. She then looked forward and saw Pearl, still holding the blade in both hands, but towering over her.

Garnet paused in shock at what was happening, but then she shook off the shock and tried to intervene

"Pearl!" Garnet shouted at Pearl. "Put down your weapo-"

"HOW DARE YOU!" Pearl hissed at her purple comrade, whose humor from moments ago had completely vanished under Pearl's enraged behavior. "YOU SAW THE STATE HE WAS IN!"

Amethyst pulled herself from under Pearl's spear and sat up, still shaken from Pearl's attitude. Pearl's attitude towards Amethyst's humor, especially when it involved Steven, was usually fueled with minor antagonism, but this reaction was different, this was more than just basic anger, this was more…savagery.

"THIS EVENT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO STEVEN!" Pearl screamed at Amethyst, her hands were clutching the spear in her hands as tightly as possible. "YOU COULDN'T HAVE GONE ONE NIGHT WITHOUT HUMILIATING HIM?"

"Calm down P!" Amethyst said in a newly found combination of anger at Pearl as well as fear. "It was just a joke!"

Amethyst then saw Pearl's expression of rage suddenly drop to a deadpan glare, as if she was possessed. Upon seeing this, Amethyst felt the Vitae in her body freeze as well as her body itself. Unable to move, she watched as Pearl released one her hands from her spear and move it towards her, Amethyst just watched as Pearl's hand moved closer. She wanted to summon her whip and slap Pearl away, to become Purple Puma and punch her away, but she couldn't. Something was stopping her. It was like she was chained to the ground, unable to move as she saw the hand reach closer, only to reach down from her face.

"Steven's well-being…" Pearl said as she reached down to Amethyst's Gem.

"…is not…" Pearl hissed as she touched Amethyst's Gem, the purple Gem looked with horror at the hand as it began to grasp her Gem.

"…A JOKE!" Pearl shouted as she began to grab the Gem tightly, almost as if the was trying to break it. Amethyst could feel her Gem begin to strain from the grip, it was like Pearl was strangling her.

"If you had ruined this for him…" Pearl hissed as she gripped tighter. "Then I would have to-"

"PEARL!" A voice shouted at Pearl, who broke from her "trance" and looked to the source of the voice. She then saw Garnet, who had removed her glasses and looked to her Gem comrade with a look of concern, one that was rare even for the stoic Garnet.

"…Pearl" Garnet spoke softly, the energy from minutes earlier drained from her being. It was horrible for her, to witness something that not even her future vision could comprehend. Her comrade, sister in arms, was trying to kill her own crystal Gems. But what disturbed her the most was the look Pearl was giving her, it was the look not of the Gem she knew for years, nor a servant of the Diamonds, but something else. Something far worst.

At this moment of distraction, Amethyst regained her composure again and slapped Pearl's hand away, clutching her crystal and breathing heavily. After a few seconds of composure, she looked to Pearl, who then looked to Amethyst with a blank stare.

"Just what the hell are you trying-t…to…" Amethyst shouted at Pearl before she cut herself short, noticing a disturbing sight before her, much more than the fact that Pearl was trying to kill her.

"Y…your gem…" Amethyst stammered as she pointed to Pearl with a trembling hand. "WHAT THE HELL'S HAPPENING TO YOUR GEM?!"

With that, Pearl suddenly broke from her trance as she backed away from Amethyst, the spear in her hand vanished as she released it.

"Wh…" Pearl muttered in confusion as she looked to Amethyst. "…I don't…What do you…"

As Amethyst and Garnet looked to Pearl in shock and horror, Pearl then felt a small but sharp pain go throughout her body. She then felt a different kind of pain, more so of a burn slowly trickle down her face. She then looked up and saw a black fluid trickling from her Gem. From the perspectives of Garnet and Amethyst, they could see that her Gem was beginning to crack and as it was, a black liquid was oozing from the cracks as well as from the base of the Gem. The liquid trickled slowly and emitted a faint smoke as it crept down to the ground Although it seemed that the Gem was cracked, Pearl's physical form was not affected by the apparent damage. As the liquid fell to the ground, it quickly hardened into small black pebbles.

Pearl just stood there, light drips of sweat trickled down her face, rushing past the slow black bile that trickled down Pearl's face. She then suddenly grasped her Gem with her hands and rushing to the Gem door. Unable to use her Gem to open it, she touched her hand to the door and opened her room. As she rushed in, the door closed behind her, a black handprint remained on said door.

Amethyst and Garnet looked to each other in silence, unable to comprehend that to say or respond to what happened. As Amethyst stood up and looked to the broken spear hole behind her, Garnet walked to the Gem door and examined the handprint. Upon touching it, Garnet winced retracted her hand. The feeling of the print was strange, it burned her hand, which was impossible since she was fireproof, but the burn was more so like touching dry ice rather than lava.

Garnet, who then turned to Amethyst with a look of concern; broke the silence that seemed like an eternity.

"It's gotten worst, I thought we would have more time, but this…" Garnet said as she reapplied her glasses. "We need to go find a solution now before it's too late."

"Oh, you think so?" Amethyst replied mockingly got off the floor and rubbed her neck. "Cause the last thing I want to deal with right now more than an angry Pearl is an angry Pearl who can shoot acid at me, but like it would make an improvement than nagging me to death."

Garnet nodded then pulled out a scroll and made several sure with her hand. As she did so, the scroll lit up and a portal appeared.

"Of course." Amethyst whined as she walked to the portal. "Cause what do we need our Gempad for?"

"It won't work there." Garnet explained as she summoned a note and placed it on the counter. "They didn't want it that way."

Garnet then stepped into the portal and Amethyst followed right after.

As the portal closed, two figures entered the room and grabbed the letter. As they looked around the room, one of them grabbed the letter off the counter.

Beach City: City

Present Day

[*]

The date of Steven Universe and Connie Maheswaran was as perfect as perfect could be. It started with a Movie showing of "Dogcopter 5: The Coptoring" followed by a fantastic meal the Crab Shack, which was followed by a trip through Beach City Funland and arcade and finally, a nice romantic walk on the beachside. To Steven, it all seemed a bit overdone and perhaps show offish, especially since his dad was a millionaire and all but to Connie, it was perhaps the best day of her life, especially since she was with Steven.

As the two stopped to admire the endless ocean before them Steven felt Connie's hand grasp his and he turned to look at he girl beside him, who knew that a falling boulder would create such a great chain of moments for the two.

"Steven, thank you for this wonderful night", Connie said with tears in her eyes as she looked to the half-Gem beside her. "I had never had such a nice night before in my life and I am glad that I can share it with you…Steven Universe…my boyfriend."

Steven gulped and turned bright red before he composed himself and smiled warmly at the girl before him. It was at this moment that good old instincts kicked in and he then kissed Connie, who was surprised at first but then embraced the love from the boy. As they kissed, Steven's Gem glowed brightly as a warmth flowed into the two lovers.

Steven and Connie pulled back from their kiss and smiled as they gazed at the stars in their eyes.

"I am so happy that you are happy." Steven cheered with stars in his eyes. "I just wonder what the whipped cream on this together breakfast will be. Perhaps we could get Lion to take us on an adventure, or go fighting a gazillion holo-Pearls or ask Amethyst for…"

As the young man turned away from Connie to ponder the perfect final plan of positivity, he was unaware that the young girl was carelessly undressing behind him.

"…but I think a nice dip in the ocean would be perfect, only we don't have any swimsuits." Steven said as he turned around to face the now naked Connie, His jaw dropped to the ground and his brain froze in place. For a shy bookworm, this girl had no problem showing off in front of the boy she loved.

As she walked into the warm water, she gestured Seven to follow her. Steven then proceeded to quickly remove all his clothes in one swoop as if they came to life and darted into the water after her. As he started to swim around, he felt Connie press into his back and kiss his neck. This caused Seven to shutter as he turned to face his girlfriend with a mind full of confusion and affection.

"I love you Steven…" Connie whispered in a sultry voice as she nibbled Steven's neck. "so…can I show you…how much I love you?

Without words, they both embraced in another long romantic kiss Without a second thought, Seven's gem instantly activated and created a bubble around the two young lovers and began to sink, just like when they first met all those years ago. However, the two did not seem to mind the situation, after all, they would need it for a while, and it seemed to be a perfect way to end an era of adventures and love, and the dawn of a new future filled with possibilities.
