Just a small drabble as my best friend asked. This for you sweetie.
This is post 611. Not my best work but I'm tired and not well. R&R.
She had held his hand the whole car trip. The silent gesture an anchor for the events that day. She had almost lost two people she cared about deeply. Her non-blood-related brothers.
The door to the loft had just been closed by Castle, and Beckett flew into his arms. Silent tears slipped from the ducts in her caramel eyes. He felt the dampness seeping through his shirt, and his hand traveled to her back, rubbing small circles.
He whispered soothing nothings in her ear, hoping in vein it would stop her from crying. He hates it when she cries, it makes his heart ache, makes him feel helpless.
"I-We almost list them today. They are my family, our family. And Jenny, the baby-if that were you in there I would never have been as strong as Jenny was. I would have died. I can't live without you. Don't ever go out to places like that without me okay?" She was pleading by this point, but couldn't care less.
"Same goes for you sweetheart. I love you."
"Love you too."
He pulled her by her hand to their bedroom. It felt nice thinking that. That it wasn't just his bedroom anymore, but theirs. Everything was theirs now.
She lay unmoving on the bed as if in a trance. He pulled her boots and stocking socks off, throwing them haphazardly behind him.
"Kate? Wanna change into something more comfortable for bed?"
Breaking out of her thoughts, she merely nodded. He helped into a pair of sweat pants and ine of his t-shirts that were way too big for her.
After he changed, he met her in the middle of the mattress. His arms wrapped around her torso, hands resting on her back. Hers were at his shoulders. "Don't you ever do that to me Rick, okay?"
"Okay," he promised. His eyes fluttered closed, as the strain of the day started taking its toll on him.
"Rick?"
He looked up to see her huge eyes staring back at him.
"Today got me thinking. Obviously life can be cut off at any unexpected time. Poor Jenny having to go through that without her husband," she trailed off.
"Kate, where is this headed?" He asked, a little concerned with the way she was talking about everything but what she wanted to talk about.
"Iwanttohavekidswithyou!" It was an absolute rush, he was sure he caught it but wanted to make sure.
"You want to what?" He questioned with a smirk.
"I want to have kids with you Rick. But I need to know nothing will happen to us while I'm pregnant. So, as soon as I am, I will take maternity leave. That way I know I won't go through any of it alone for any reason. But, only if you want another child."
He beamed at her, crushing his lips against hers. "Only if my children are with you will I want any."
They kissed passionately, tongues fighting a duel of dominance. She mumbled something about not practicing as she was too tired, he agreed, and they drifted off to sleep, wrapped in eachothers arms.
