Story Status: Complete

Characters: Belle, with mentions of Rumple

Premise: Belle's thought directly after banishing Rumple.

It started as a tiny quiver in the tips of Belle's fingers. Slowly, the quiver seeped upward. Within a matter of moments, as the magnitude of what she had just done sunk in, she found her whole body shaking. Her lips started to tremble as a whimper squeaked past them. "Rumple," she whispered, one arm stretching out towards the nothingness in front of her. It was an illusion, of course. An invisible wall of magic that separated 'their' world from the rest of the world. It now separated her from the man she had married. 'Husband' seemed to sacred of a word to describe what Rumple had become to her. 'Stranger' seemed more appropriate. When she first met him, she'd thought he couldn't be any more evil. She'd been wrong. The Rumple she had met hadn't pretended to be anything other than what he truly was. The Rumple she had just forced across the town line had been a master manipulated. He'd led her to believe that he had changed, that he no longer wanted to live a life seeped in revenge and dark magic. Maybe he had truly meant to become a better man. He'd said he wanted to, for her sake, if not his own.

"Belle?"

Biting back a startled gasp, Belle spun around to find a pale faced Emma Swan standing a few feet away. "Emma," she managed to stammer around her chattering teeth.

"Are you okay?"

A hysterical laugh welled up in Belle's chest. Was she okay? It seemed like a ridiculous question to ask, seeing how the answer was as plain as the trembling coursing through her body. "No," she finally answered. "Tonight, I'm not okay, but maybe tomorrow I will be." Even as the words left her lips, she knew they were a lie.
