With all of the strange occurences, it took only someone like Re-L to know that the Kira case wasn't solved. Kira is still among us. Light Yagami may have been killed, but whatever powered him was still out there. Re-l Mayer knew this. As an investigator for Japan's Intelligence Bureau, she was certain that there was something controlling our universe. Something evil that was too strong for ordinary people. L, being one of her main competitors, disagreed. He believed in something called a "Shinigami", or Death God, with a notebook in which the person whose name was written would die. This, to Re-l was garbage. From what she had seen, it had been hard to live in a world where robots and humans coexist. People made the robots, and the more success they had, the smarter they wanted the robots to become. So, people would find ways to make robots as human as possible, until, in Re-l's mind, they became too smart to obey human orders, causing them to rebel. These robots were called Proxies. Re-l had full faith that they were behind the Death Note. Robots possessed abilities humans could not. Humans made them smart, not emotional. So, without emotion, intelligence was the only concept they had to work with. Something with the ability to do anything, and not consider the consequences is much deadlier than a Death God in Re-l's mind. "Even a God of Death would feel some remorse. It is unnatural for anything with a mind to lack a heart," she said on webcam with L. L, hiding his face behind a white screen and the letter "L" replied, "But why would our own creations want to rebel against us?" Re-l, a little intimidated by L's debate said, "The same reason we rebel against our Gods. We feel as though our rulers are unfair, and so we don't do as they say - " L interrupted, "Robot's don't feel, remember?"

"Anything that can act can feel, it's all a matter of what they feel. The robots are programmed to do as they say, right?" She asked, "Yes. But they do it mindlessly," L added. "The robots are programmed to listen, not to speak. So, if someone evil were to teach the robots to kill and attack, they would listen, and since they are connected by a monkey see monkey do-like mentality, they all would follow, causing more and more Proxies. It's not a God of Death, it is an evil genius. The mastermind behind this act wants the robots to disobey. He wants to take over the world." L, almost intimidated by her reasoning could only force one reply, "That's absurd." Re-l was angered by the fact that her statement didn't make very much sense to him, and proceeded to explain, "There is a human behind this, and I don't know who it is, and I will figure this out. If you can't promise me that you are not the creator of this evil, I will no longer work with you." Suddenly, the computer went dead. The message on the screen read: "The user you are trying to contact is currently offline". Re-l knew in her heart and mind that whoever created these Proxies was going to be a challenge to catch, and L, her partner, was going to be a challenge to work with. Re-l was furious, and waddled off to bed.
