Princess Bubblegum's face grew hot with every syllable Marceline uttered, every time the beautiful vampire looked down to her, her heartbeat increased as a lovely voice floated down. Each word brought more of that wonderful voice, with it her love of the black haired woman. However, the content of the song was what saddened her, Marceline was singing about feeling unaccepted by her. It broke her heart into a hundred tiny pieces, she felt aweful for what she had accidentally caused in her friend, the woman she loved... The song came to a stop as did the beating of Bubblegum's heart. She could only stare at the black-haired beauty in front of her, her mouth agape and her cheeks a shade just above crimson. The rest of the afternoon was almost a complete blur for her, there was nothing outstanding about that night, save for Marceline offering to take her home. She thought her heart would explode. Getting to spend more time with Marceline was a blessing from the highest Gods in the Candy Kingdom, and not only that but Marceline was actually walking next to her! Each step they took brought her closer to her home and it saddened Bonnibell, but each step was also another moment she got to spend with the vampire she was almost positive she had fallen in love with. She wanted to break the silence with something sweet. "Its a nice night, thank you for walking me home."
"Oh its no problem. I would just be sitting at home if I weren't here... With you." Bonnibell looked over to see the pale face of the vampire painted a lovely shade of pink.
"What do you usually do at home?" Bubblegum slid a sideways glance at the other woman.
"If I'm not writing songs I'm either recording in my diary, singing, or thinking..." She trailed off and looked away.
The two women were directly outside the palace, and they stopped on the walkway to turn to one another, "What do you think about?" Bonnibell's face grew hot.
"I-I think about some of my ex-girlfriends, and I...I think about you." Marceline's hands hung at her sides and she looked directly into the Princess's eyes, "I think about you, Bonnie."
"You...You like women? A-Are you sure?" She stammered out.
The pale woman threw her head back and laughed, "Bonnibell, I have been alive for nearly 8 centuries, I know what I like. And..." She grabbed the other woman's hands and stroked the backs of them softly. "...I like you. I like you a lot." She gave the Princess a toothy grin.
"I like you too, Marceline." Her face instantly got crimson, "I-I'm sorry to have made you felt secluded enough that you had to sing that song...I didn't mean to...I didn't mean...I would never..." Her face fell and tears formed in her eyes.
"Hey, hey." Marceline released one of the other woman's hands to slowly lift her face up by the chin, "Don't cry, it was just a song."
"But you express yourself through your music, you sing everything you feel, and everything you're thinking about, everything that bothers you..." Bonnibell trailed off. "Its only logical to conclude that I bother you. And-" She was cut off. Marceline's soft lips had enveloped her own. Strong arms slid down to wrap around the Princess's waist, while her own wrapped around the vampire's shoulders. She felt herself being lifted from the ground, but she didn't care, she knew the other woman holding her had a firm grip and a steady hand; the only thing that mattered to Bubblegum at the moment were the lips pressed against her own. She found herself trapped within the Perfect Kiss, and she never wanted it to end.
