Any reviews would be really helpful as this is my first story. Also I am not sure if I should make a second chapter. Thanks and enjoy. :D

I DO NOT OWN DECLARATION

Chapter 1

Alice

I was taken. Taken from my family. 6 years since that day I have been disciplined at Grange Hall. I have been taught that my existence was a mistake, my mother didn't love me and that I am lucky to be alive. Everyone at Grange Hall was taken, like me, but they were snatched from their families grasp at a much younger age and have now been brainwashed as all they know is their consecutive life here. Just like the other children I cannot remember much from my past. However there is one memory that is stuck in my mind, that I have nightmares about each sleepless night. It is the only thing I have left of her. It is usually like this…

I wake to a canopy of lime green leaves above me. There is a slight breeze lightly brushing against my pale bare skin. I can hear a smooth caring voice calling my name to my right. "Alice… Alice wake up, we have to go". I glance over and see silky chestnut brown hair cascading down my mother's shoulders. Her smile is like a beacon of hope. She looks down at me and offers me her hand. I take it without thinking. My hand slips into hers and she helps me up.

"Your dad is meeting us by the river."

I skip along next to her, skimming the branches with my fingertips. I hear the flowing river ahead, but there is something else. At first I can't make out what it is. I look up at my mother I see her face dropping and filling with fear and worry. Her pace quickens and my skip falls to a walk beside her. We emerge from a bush to see the normal scene of the river - a piercing scream breaks the silence. There next to the river lay my father; there is no blatant wound, but it is obvious he is dead. I am grabbed from behind with my mouth being forced shut. I try to wrestle from the unknown grasp but it is no use, the restriction only tightens. My mother is shoved to the ground. I see fear and a hint of anger in her expression. I look up at her, tears streaming down my face. I struggle towards her, reaching out my hand to touch her one more time, but I am forced back, still with my eyes locked with hers. She mouths words to me. "I will find you, I love you". A gun is aimed at her head pressing against her skull. Suddenly she strikes out hitting her attacker in his stomach causing him to double over gasping for air. I am frozen in place, too astonished to move an inch. Two men menacingly walk towards her. I am still being pulled back further into the undergrowth. The men are nearly at my mother, when she glances up at me she meets my eyes, pleading, asking for forgiveness. She then turns away and runs, disappearing into the forest that was once our home. The two men start to pursue her but they are stopped by a deep voice behind me. I look over to see where the source of the voice came from. Just as I crane my neck I feel a hot piercing pain in my neck. I twist my head confused. I feel my limbs going limp. I struggle but my eyes just start to close. With my last ounce of strength I thrash around, kicking someone near me. The target yelps in pain. "You little-". Then I am plunged into darkness.

That is when I wake up sweating and panting. Everyone around me sleeps deeply. It is the same every night, because I know the truth. I want revenge on these people who took my life away. I was meant to be born and I will find my mother. Whatever it takes.
