Hey, got bored at school, so I went to the library and typed this up, hope you like!

I do not own Ed Edd n Eddy

It was a fall afternoon, and Marie decided it was time to hunt down her oven mitt, she saw Edd sneak off towards the forest away from Ed and Eddy. She smiled to herself, being the crafty Kanker, she would follow him without letting him know she was there…. She snuck into the forest, a few yards behind him.

He then started to follow a path she never noticed before. Marie pondered why her Edd would go down an unknown route, it wasn't really like him. Marie slowly stalked the smart Edd, too see where he was going. When he exited into a clearing, she followed him, and gasped. It was a beautiful field covered in small white flowers, a small brook ran close by.

Edd finally noticed her, but much to the surprise of Marie, didn't flinch, or scream, or even attempt to run in terror. Instead, he just laid down flat on his back and watched the clouds.

"This is where I like to go to think" Edd muttered.

"A place where I can be away from the calamities of our world, away from home, friends, the high school clicks. Just a place to be…. Me" He calmly said. Marie slowly nodded.

"What are you thinking about?" Marie asked. Edd looked reluctant to answer, but stated-

"Parents"

"Are they that bad?" Marie asked, realizing she never saw his parents, let alone know anything about them.

"I wouldn't know" He merely stated, as if it was a common fact.

"What do you mean?"

"I never see them, they head off to work before I wake up in the mornings, and come home long after I fall asleep, I don't remember the last time we ate together, the last time they told me Happy birthday, heck, sometimes I have to look at photos on our walls to remember what they look like" He sighed. Marie wanted to reach out, to hold him, but she didn't know how he would react.

"Parents are overrated" She muttered. She noticed a small smile on his lips, not a large grin of a five year old on Christmas day, but a tiny little thing, the ends of his lips barley curving upward. It was still enough to send Marie's heart racing.

"What about you?" Edd asked her.

"What?" Marie asked.

"Your parents, what are they like?" he asked calmly, still staring at the sky, not giving her a single glance.

"Well my mom's basically a little slut, coming home with a new guy every night, that is every night she shows up at all, my dad left before I was born, not much to say about him" she shrugged.

"No wonder you know nothing about showing affection" Edd said, not in an insulting way, he said it as if stating the sad truth. But Marie still felt slightly hurt.

"At least you have your sisters, I have no one in that big empty house"

"What about Ed and Eddy?" Marie asked. Edd scoffed.

"Please. Ed's just too incompetent to be helpful, and Eddy would just use anything I say to black mail me with later in the future"

"So why are you telling me these things?"

"You're someone who's here, I'm not really just telling you, I'm telling myself, and you're just… here." Edd repeated. Marie felt as if he was hinting something and turned to leave, suddenly feeling not like attacking him today.

"Marie…"Edd started.

"Yes?" Marie turned around and looked at him.

"Thanks"

"For what?"

"Just for being there" Marie blushed.

"Ya, well if you ever need someone to rant to about life's crap, I'm willing to listen."

"I'll remember that" Edd chuckled before padding the ground next to motioning Marie to join him. She did, and they spent the rest of the afternoon looking up at the clouds.
