Statistically Unlikely
Ch. 1
This tea is rubbish, Mycroft Holmes thought to himself, already bored after deducing every person in the Starbucks he had chosen to linger in. Checking his watch, he signed at the time. He had another hour before departing for the meeting with the Senators a few blocks away.
Mycroft was in the States to settle some political matters. He predicted the deal would take 6 days and was rarely incorrect about these things. He was offered a hotel but it was not to his standards in the least. By choosing his own accommodation however allowed him to roam the streets of the city during off hours for trivial entertainment. The Diaogenes Club did not exist in this dreadful country.
Hearing the door open, he looks to see a family of four walk in, followed by a black female in gym attire. She somehow threw him off, so he analyzes the family first. On the borderline of a divorce, traumatic childhoods in each parent, bankrupt, boy has attention deficient disorder, girl is severely depressed. Why must they all be so simple? Turning to the black female behind them, he was surprised to realize he could not seem to read her entirely on the first try. Regal, confident, high stress job, just completed a workout, Crossfit, fond of aesthetics, wealthy, intelligent. It was only after a moment it hit him. Successful surgeon.
Questioning himself for the time it took to see the whole picture, he decided it didn't matter and continued his analyzation.
Blank.
He now found himself stunned. He read nothing else from her body language or face. Completely devoid of any markers that would clue him in on her history, childhood, mental health status, or marital status for that matter. Why did that question arise? He shook his head, it's no matter, just a simple observation. He found himself defending his train of thought. Well as a surgeon wearing her wedding ring all the time would be more difficult than most, it is usually something one seems to show in their demeanor nevertheless. Annoyed that he had not convinced himself, he tucked the thought and his initial feeling towards her away for further analysis in his mind palace.
After quite a long hiatus, I AM WRITING AGAIN. I will be updating this chapter soon but for now know that is a very rough beginning. Hope you liked!
