Words of the Heart
A collection of poetry "written" by Sam. SamJack. Kindly take a moment to review.
Then, and Now
If they'd
asked me "then"
if I knew
I'd ache to have
so much
more than a curt command
from your
parted lips,
desire a
gaze more intimate
than any
you'd give the others,
hunger for
a different touch
than a
slap on the back
urging me
on to battle,
crave with
all my being the tender words,
the
telling looks, the sensual touch
of you –
once-strutting macho man --
I'd have
laughed, then.
Not now.
Just for Once
Just for
once,
don't
look away,
utter some
easy catch-phrase,
dismiss
with a casual wave
of a
calloused hand.
Take down
the barriers
so
carefully erected,
protections
against the hurt,
the awful
and awesome
vulnerability
of loving.
Forget,
for just a moment,
the
carefully circumscribed,
the
painfully proper
rules of
conduct.
Look at me
–
the woman
before you--
Samantha,
not Sam –
allow the
kind capture
of your
heart,
the
unconditional and
sweet
surrender
of you,
Jack,
of you.
A Plea
Can't
you see
I really didn't
want to do it...
accept his
affections,
share his
bed,
take his
ring.
Now I'm
bound by promises,
near-crushed
with the weight
of his
expectations.
I'm
dying.
Jack, rescue me.
Question
If not you...then who?
If not now, then when?
