She lights the last of the candles carefully, one hand cupped around the back of the wick. Smiling at him, Magnus brings the long match to her lips and blows out the little flame. Her office has a very different atmosphere at dusk, Will decides. Dim twilight bright enough to see but reading is a strain. The array of computers to her right are dark, quiet. Everything is eerily quiet in the Sanctuary and he feels like that should terrify him.
"You don't have to worry, Dr. Zimmerman," her warm palm grips his wrist lightly, "auxillary power keeps what is below right where they are. Come. Sit with me."
Magnus need only give the lightest of tugs for him to follow like a lost puppy. Will takes his usual seat opposite her own on the couch, frowning. The way she looks now, sliding open report files in her lap and bites her lip just so when she starts to read-
Will is reminded of last week. When it was the Nubbins, when he felt like high school (never, ever again) and he remembers being more focused on her hands and the way her chest rose when her breath hitched . They'd both been agog of one another.
Just like last week he's staring. "Is something wrong, Will?" Magnus doesn't look up but her concern sounds genuine. When he doesn't say anything she stops, tilting her head. "I promise you this isn't a usual occurance. Only since we've had-" she stops short and Will suddenly feels like a tool.
"No, no. Sorry. It's fine. Sorry."
Magnus lays a palm on the report, giving just a hint of a smile. "Must be you."
"I-what?"
Chuckling, she shakes her head. "Kidding. Don't worry about anything, Will. Power outages are the least of our worries around here."
"That's reassuring."
"You'll get used to it." She sounds sure.
It's him that laughs now, teasingly incredulous. "Oh I'm supposed to get used to funky gremlins who play with my emotions and mermaids...Steve..."
Magnus just shrugs. "Expect the unexpected."
Will sighs, opening reports of his own. "Sanctuary for all." He parrots at her with a poorly affectation. Her laugh is light and breathy. It's nice.
