Races

"What do you think we're going to have to do?" Tenten asked Ino. Their teams, along with some others had been called the day before while on missions on a surprise event, and were told to pack for at least three days.

"I don't know, they didn't give us any details. Maybe we-" Ino was cut off.

"Okay everyone! Welcome to Konoha's training Race!!!" the loudspeaker boomed overhead, carrying Tsunade's voice over the participants. 'Ooh. That's what we're doing.' Tenten thought. The team of Gai, and teams 7, 8, and 10 stood in the field getting ready for the race, as Tsunade continued with the details.

Tsunade had scheduled a race in Konoha village for some fun and a little training. Participation was required, and the task as well as terrain in the race was difficult, but the surprise reward was a two night, fully expense paid trip to a luxury resort for one team of three. The teams weren't told of that of course. The race was supposed to take a total of three days to complete, and consisted of swimming across part of the ocean, traveling across desert terrain, and over mountains, fighting was included in every aspect of the race, and the final destination was the Sand village. What they didn't know however, was that before they could enter the Sand village, each of them had to beat an opponent.

"Your first obstacle will be to get through Mountain ranges, there will be plenty of forests along the way that you will have to travel through, after that you will board a boat taking you to the edge of the Sand village, from there you will travel across the desert to your final destination, I will be waiting at the gates of the Sand village." And with that, the teams were off.

"Neji, Lee, which path?" Tenten asked her team mates, as she stared upon the circle with seven paths leading from it, in which they had been assigned to along with team 8.

"Well, we're going this way, don't follow us." Kiba declared, and took off with his team towards the path to their right.

"G-good luck T-Tenten." Hinata and Tenten had become close friends over the years. "And y-you too N-Neji…" she added as she felt his gaze on her.

"You guys too! Take care!" Tenten smiled at her.

"Tenten, don't cheer for our competition." Neji coldly stated.

Tenten smiled at him. She knew him too well, she knew he'd wanted to train for sometime now, and she knew he was currently becoming very competitive.

"Yeah yeah, don't worry! Lee and I can kick ass as well as you do!" Tenten gave him an excited smile.

"Let's go!!!" Lee shouted, as he ran off into the seemingly darkest, roughest path he could've chosen.

"Lee!" Tenten called, as she sighed and took of after him with Neji at her side.
