A/N: Aiko's prize fic for coming second in the random! AU competition. Sayo as you commanded. :)

don't look both ways anymore

She is a wild girl, and she loves it.

There's a city with her name on it and she doesn't care. There's some gold brass thing too: polished and so shiny she has to wear her goggles to get a good look at it. Stupid thing, really. And all those computers and technology and confusing stuff that spazzed out during the whole Grimmon incident.

She thinks they should have taken the hint and learnt not to be so high tech. Most of them don't.

At least Chief Julia's never forced her to learn all that techno mumbo jumbo.

So long as she can kick a digimon's butt, it doesn't matter. Because nobody does it better than her. Not even the Chief.

…except maybe Koh, but she has an advantage because he's a guy and she's a girl and she never feels guilty for pounding his pride in to the dust.

Her. She doesn't have pride and all's good in the world that way.

Duskmoon wouldn't be alive if she'd had pride.

If Koh wants to tease her that pride was for the civilised men, then that's fine with her. She's a woman, not a man. And she's not civilised; she's a wild girl who only follows the rules of nature, of the Digital World. Because she's seen how easily the city can collapse. Because she's seen how cities can collapse.

Doesn't matter that she's the Night Crow's ace in the hole.

She's not a baby growing up any more who has to hold an adult's hand.
