*Can't Go Back*

Kate can't go back. There's nothing left for her in Port Charles anymore. Her family's gone and she has no real friends.

Except for... No. She isn't going to go there. What has happened just needs to stay in the past where it belongs, but it won't do that. No. It won't go away. It's always there in the back of Kate's mind, bugging her like an annoying itch that won't go away.

No matter how many times she lies to herself saying that it isn't true, deep down inside she knows that it is and it scares her.

Kate hates when Sam smiles at her, even though she has to force herself not to smile back.

They are too different; the complete opposite of each other. While Kate loves fashion and all things feminine, Sam's someone who doesn't.

Sam likes guns, explosions and 'kicking people's asses,' as she had so eloquently put it that first night they had spent together.

That one night that changed everything for the both of them for both better or worse.

That one night where two broken people had found each other and also found the will to keep on living.

Kate walks into their house slamming the door behind her. She has had a bad day at the office and is spoiling for a fight.

As she throws her purse and keys down on the counter, she catches the attention of her girlfriend.

When Sam stares at her, Kate snaps and says, "What are you looking at?"

Sam shakes her head and then says, "Not too much, just a bitch with a stick up her ass."

Kate narrows her eyes and then spits, "Go to Hell!"

When Sam gets to her feet and stands before Kate glaring in anger, Kate actually feels a little nervous although she would never tell anyone.

Before either of them know what's happening, Kate slaps Sam across the face as hard as she can.

Before Kate's hand has even fallen back to her side, she feels Sam's fist connect with her face and a moment later her nose is bleeding.

Moments later, Kate says, "What was that for?" When Sam doesn't answer right away she says, "Well?"

Sam shrugs and then says, "You hate yourself, but you hate me even more."

Kate looks away, finding something else to look at because they both know that it's true.

"You're right, I do hate you. I hate you for what you did to me, for what you have made me become. I don't even recognize myself anymore because of you," Kate says angrily.

Sam glares, a cold look in her mocha eyes before she speaks. "You can hate me all you want, but the love I have for you is stronger than your hate, so deal with it you bitter bitch!"

Seconds later both of them are slamming lips together, scratching nails over skin, cursing and sweating and it's just so them.

When they finally pull apart for air several minutes later, Kate stares into Sam's dark eyes and knows that she can't go back to the way her life used to be.

She just can't go back, ever. In this moment both women know that they have found what has been missing in their lives.

The end.
