Fate Can't Fight Love
Disclaimer: I don't own Ben 10.
A.N.: "There are many ways to tell a story." Enough said. XD
Even after hearing everything Chrono Spanner had to say to stop him, Ben had gone through with buying flowers and chocolates. He couldn't keep living like this. He had to get Julie back.
Soon he found himself at her doorstep, box of chocolates in one hand and hand-picked flowers in the other. He wasn't the type of person to buy romantic things for people, much less pick flowers for them, but if she'd date him again...or even just hang out, then that's all that matters to him.
What am I go to say to her...?
"Julie Yamamoto, I really love you...and should have spent more time with you... Nope...too cheesy."
He really had no clue what he'd say. Could just apologizing and gifts work? It seemed impossible.
He clears his throat before trying again, this time turning his attention to the starry sky above, "Julie...you were...the longest girlfriend I've ever had. You...weren't just a girlfriend, though. You were...a best friend...someone I could talk to...someone who was there for me...someone who saw my good side and my bad side. And we had a lot in common...we both liked chili-cheese fries and...and I think you do like Mr. Smoothies... But if you really don't," he pauses, wiping his arm across his face to get rid of the tears on his face, "then I could take you to other places..."
He breathes in for a moment, then exhales, "I...I love you. I'm not really good at talking and apologizing, and maybe your guy is...but at least...at least let me buy you something at Mr. S-wherever...just so we can talk...maybe end things a little less...abrupt. Maybe this guy's better for you...but I...I need you to...to talk with me... I need to say goodbye properly. Allow me that much..."
He wipes his sleeve over his face again to get rid of more tears. He turns around, about to put the chocolate box under his other arm so he can knock on the door, but saw that it was open, and standing in the doorway was...her.
"Julie..."
He's suddenly being crushed by the smaller teen. Not the stomp-stomp kind of crush that often happens when I'm fighting bigger bad guys, but...a I-haven't-seen-you-in-forever kind of crush.
"Ben...I...I love you too."
After a moment Ben drops the flowers and chocolates before wrapping his arms around her, "You...heard all that?"
"Most of it... Ben...I want to be your girlfriend again... And I want to apologize for breaking your heart."
Ben nods, but stops, "What about your guy?"
"He...it didn't work out..."
Ben pulls away enough to look into her dark brown eyes, "Are you sure?"
She smiles, but it's fake, "Yes, I'm sure."
"What happened?"
Julie tries to look down, but Ben puts a hand to her chin before lifting her chin enough to look her in the eye, "Julie, tell me."
"He...he's married."
Ben stares at her in silence, then nods. He's not sure if he should ask.
"I shouldn't have broke up with you."
Ben smiles, "We...shouldn't have done a lot of things... And should have done a lot of things. It doesn't matter."
Julie smiles back, then leans forward, and within seconds their lips met.
Time pauses, the background fades...nothing but them is heard...nothing but them is seen...nothing but them exist in that moment.
Ben knows they both have a lot of questions to ask each other. Plenty of catching up to do, too. And he knows that bad things could happen now...he may have just destroyed an entire future... He knows he supposed to go with Kai... Future doesn't have a chance against love. Fate...can't fight love.
