Nerissa stared upon the limp body that stood lying before her in the snow. It was Cassidy. She knelt down and held her in her arms.

"It didn't have to be this way," said Nerissa as she ran her fingers through Cassidy's red hair.

Nerissa closed her eyes as tears flowed down her cheeks falling on her once lively friend's cheek. She opened her eyes and looked up at the sky. It began to snow, as if the heavens were weeping with her as well.

"We were supposed to be together," said Nerissa as she wept uncontrollably.

In her maddened state she had attacked the only person she could love. Her greed had cost her the only thing that mattered to her. A sharp chilling wind began to blow. To many this wind would've caused them to shiver but not her. Nerissa knew she would be hunted down like a dog and punished for her crime.

"I'm not going to let them separate us."

She gently laid Cassidy's body down in the snow.

Even in death you're still beautiful, thought Nerissa sadly. I hope you can forgive me when we meet each other soon.

She caressed her cold cheek gently and pressed her lips against Cassidy's. In her mind they weren't cold; they were warm and full of life like they once were.

"Soon my dear heart…soon."

Nerissa began to make her way to the cliff before her. The wind began to howl angrily as she made her way to the edge. She looked down below at the deep chasm and gazed up at the sky.

"I won't let you separate us," said Nerissa as if she knew someone had been watching everything that had transpired just now.

She stared one last time at Cassidy's body and closed her eyes. She threw herself off the cliff. Nerissa knew she wasn't going to survive the fall and she didn't care. Fresh tears flowed from her eyes as she fell to the ground below. She landed with hard crunch. For a second she could feel the immense pain flowing through her body. She opened her mouth letting out a gasp as blood flowed from it. Slowly the pain began to fade and a smile formed on her face. She remembered the words Cassidy had once spoken to her in the bed they had shared so many countless times.

"No matter what happens, I will always love you."

With that final thought Nerissa's body went limp as one last tear flowed down her cheek.

And so it ends.
