A Bizarre Romance

Note: Everyone can have a change of heart. But some writers never change...

It had been quite an unexpected match to say the least.

However, Sophia appeared to be positively happy and so did her newfound love. The Glyphian noble had somehow managed to capture her heart during the battle against the Creator.

Today all the saviors of the universe and their assorted friends had gathered to witness the union of this bizarre duo in Airyglyph's newly constructed church. One was short, sweet, and pink while the other was tall, dark, and devilishly handsome.

The ceremony had already begun.

"I don't understand," Fayt said, nudging Maria. They sat on one of many long benches inside the crowded building. "They were never alone together." Maria glanced at him and could only shrug.

Several Aquarians sat nearby.

"I cannot ever recall hearing them speak to one another," Nel whispered. Clair was at her side and nodded her head in agreement. Despite the oddity before them all, they had accepted the new pair without complaints. They were simply happy for their friends.

Across the aisle, Cliff and Mirage sat close together. He draped his arm over her shoulder and she turned her face slightly to speak to her fellow Klausian.

"Cliff, I always thought he had some infatuation with the Aquarian woman," she said, attempting to be polite as possible.

"Me too. Guess we were pretty off on that one, huh?"

"I suppose so."

"I wonder how she's taking it..." Cliff's eyes fell upon Clair, guessing that she would know how her friend was feeling. At that moment, Clair tapped Nel on the shoulder.

"Nel, I'm really sorry," she offered. Nel crossed her arms and leaned back against the bench, terribly aware of the empty seat to her right.

"Don't be. I should have known better than to expect Albel to be at my side on a day like this..."

The priest finished his speech and the couple exchanged a few words. Finally, they were pronounced husband and wife. They kissed and the organs began belting out joyful notes.

Sophia threw her arms around her beloved once more. He smiled.

"I love you, Sophia," he exclaimed.

"I love you too, Arzei!"

Cliff and his lovely wife Mirage wondered how Elena was taking this union of Sophia and Arzei. Nel was pissed because Albel didn't show up at the wedding because he hates them. Nel will attempt to kill him later at dinner because he's not quite foolish enough to skip out on a date with his ninja girlfriend. Fayt and Maria are dating. If they ever have kids, they'll already know what they'll look like.

Also, for no particular reason, Clair married an accountant named Heraldo.

Oh and...

Heraldo is a woman.

I truly hope I tricked at least one person into believing this was a Sophia/Albel fic. And if you are an Alphia shipper, please don't murder me. I didn't write this to be mean or to bash the couple (there are quite a few excellent Alphia stories out there, yo!). I saw a potentially hilarious joke and, being the psychopath that I am...I came up with this.
