Title: Dying Embers

Pairing: Maxie/May

Summary: She is silent and he wants to know. Did she regret anything?

A/N: You know how the female protagonist in the game is always quiet and barely says anything? If so then you'll see that in my one-shot so please don't get confused. This fic is dedicated to AA the one who got me back into falling in love with this couple.

With a sigh, May rests on top of his body, half-naked, wrapped around his legs, her head on his chest. Her soft skin is still hot, set fire by too many kisses to count.

Maxie was surprised by how quiet she was when they kissed…then again he should stop being surprised. The blasted girl was almost always quiet.

His tongue tastes like her, his hands itch to explore more but he does not and still she is silent. Her sweet aroma lives on his flesh and all of a sudden the red-head wishes with all of his being that she would say something…anything.

"…"

"May?"

"…Hm?"

"Do you regret this?"

His question is met with silence and the fifteen year-old girl does not raise her head up to meet his piercing stare but he knows that she heard him.

May hears everything.

"Say something May. I can never tell what is going on through your head…even after you destroyed my chances of controlling Groudon…I still cannot tell what you're thinking." He sounds wistful; almost confused but Maxie is a sharp man.

From the time he created Team Magma he was sharp and when it fell to its demise—because of her…he was still sharp and along the way he had become a little more calmer…nothing like the harsh land-lover who chased after a dangerous, legendary pokemon.

His organization is in ruins, he is penniless, and is now in the company of the very girl he had sworn to destroy.

So how did it happen?

Before all this, the girl in his arms had become champion and tracked him down. Somehow he ended up traveling with her.

He had nothing else to do and she was in need of company.

Funny how quickly feelings develop in a mere few months and now here they are…cheeks flushed, lips swollen from kissing, and skin on fire.

He does not think they've done something wrong but is anxious to hear her opinion about it.

He asks her again.

She is silent still.

Her Match Call vibrates, hums like a beedrill, rings and dances on the floor of the secret base.

They don't reach out to answer, just opting to hold each other and wait for peace to return.

They grip their silence as if speaking or moving was the biggest sin. They kiss. Touch. Maxie's kisses are intense and she pulls away to catch her breath. Finally, finally May whispers, "If I regretted it I would have picked up the Match call already and ignored you while I was speaking to the person on the other end of the line."

Her breath tickles his ear and he smirks knowing full well that whenever in the mood she would ignore him. It nearly drove him crazy but in the end he had gotten use to her quirks and odd personality, resorting to different tricks on getting her to speak more and it was all worth it.

He believes that he's falling for her.

The Match Call keeps ringing.

They both regret nothing.

The Match Call keeps ringing.

They fall asleep in each other's arms, ignoring the rings and holding each other a little tighter then before.

The Match Call keeps ringing.

Wally can wait.

End.

A/N: Aw poor Wally xD. He really wanted a re-match with May. Alright kiddies please read and review this one-shot and if you don't like it don't read. Its bad enough I got hate mail from people who don't support this pairing.
