Disclaimer: I do not own Transformers Hasbro does; I only own Starblossom and the two girls who show up in the story later on Tara and Emily
Author alert first off – Very emotional and dark story, mostly because of what Optimus and his mate go through.
A/N – Takes place during Dark of the moon but Sentinel is NOT evil in my story; so Ironhide does not die in my story.
Optimus Prime/Cybertronian OC
Summary – Optimus Prime was finally happy; he had a mate and the humans were finally accepting him and his team. He could finally relax a bit… or could he?
Broken Spark
Chapter 1
Optimus' POV – Optimus' narrative
I am not sure how I came to be in this position, but it would seem that I've lost everything now. I have lost my second home, friends, human allies and my mate, I was turned over to Lockdown so that the rest of the Autobots and humans would be safe.
I had a mate, Starblossom, who was first my best friend; and then we became much more than that. I had fallen in love with her. She meant the world to me; but I should have realized that my happiness would be short lived.
Lockdown told everyone I was a drone; I was not a leader or prime now. My mentor was made leader. Then to add insult to injury, Sentinel took my Matrix of Leadership away from me, telling me I wasn't worthy of it.
I tried to get to Star and she to me, but Sentinel wouldn't let her get to me. I could see in her optics she didn't believe Lockdown; but the others wouldn't listen to her or me.
I glanced out the window of Lockdown's ship, he was taking me to face the Counsel of Planets to be judged and sentenced for my punishment. They said the war was my entire fault. They said I was to blame for all the deaths, including that of the humans on Earth.
I don't care what my punishment was to be, I honestly didn't care about anything anymore. I lost so much and the fact that I lost Star hit me more than the other losses, I had lost everything in just a short time I couldn't believe my life had gone so badly.
What else must I lose?
I wanted to ask Primus for help, but he wouldn't waste his time on someone like me.
I was a worthless scrap heap now, who had nothing now nothing at all. Sentinel had ripped the Matrix of Leadership out from my chest plates, but he didn't have to be so brutal to me. I would have given it to him.
I missed Star so badly. And, the truth be told I would have given anything to see her one last time, I loved her and would have given her the world if she asked for it or if I could have done it.
Three years earlier
It had been three years since the mission in Egypt; after Optimus made the call to other Autobots to come to Earth their new home. They had lost Autobots since they had arrived on Earth Jazz and the Arcee triplets. It had hurt him losing his soldiers that way. They had some new Autobots now that had showed up Mirage, Wheeljack, and the Wreckers, and they still had some of the original Autobots. They had Bumblebee, Sideswipe, the Chevy twins, Jolt and Ratchet along with Ironhide. But Optimus always welcomed more Autobots into the fold. Optimus liked it when more of his troops arrived, because the war had started to wear him down completely. His brother was relentless now.
Then another femme arrived. Her name was Starblossom. She and Optimus hit it off right away. They became fast friends; and then became more than friends. Then one night the two became bonded like humans would call marriage only for Cybertronians it was more intense. Once they spark merged they could feel each other's emotions; and knew what the other was feeling.
It was beautiful.
Star worried when Optimus was on missions, especially the current one they had been on. It changed him. Optimus was not happy though. When on a mission, it was learned that a part of a lost Autobot ship was found in human possession. He hated secrets, and he hated when those he thought were allies betrayed him or lied to him.
So, when the humans tried to explain to him why, he listened but all the while kept thinking about one thing and that was the ship's captain, Sentinel Prime, his mentor and friend and one he held like a father figure.
He and Ratchet went to where the ship was located on the dark side of the moon. But what shocked Optimus was that they found Sentinel inside with five of his pillars for a space bridge which would have turned the tables in their favor during the war.
"Sentinel, dear friend; you're coming home," Optimus said as Ratchet watched his leader, Prime and dear friend.
"You can revive him with your Matrix, Optimus. He'll be fine," Ratchet replied as Optimus glanced up and nodded.
Once back at the NEST base; they started things right away to get Sentinel revived and hide the five pillars so Megatron couldn't get them. Sentinel Prime insisted once he was revived that he and Optimus go for a drive together. But first he scanned a NEST military vehicle: a Rosenbauer Panther Airport crash tender fire truck. Then Optimus and Sentinel headed out for a drive. At first Sentinel had stood while Optimus slowly walked up. Sentinel turned to face Optimus as he walked up. Sentinel watched Optimus walk up toward him.
"Your flames become you, Optimus," Sentinel said as Optimus smiled and nodded.
"You don't think it makes me flashy?" Optimus asked.
"No not at all, Optimus," Sentinel said as he continued to watch the flamed bot. "Come; sit down with me, Optimus," Sentinel replied.
Optimus and Sentinel were seated on the ground alone together conversing like they used to do back on Cybertron.
"I must say, I approve of your choice for a mate. She is quite beautiful, Optimus," Sentinel stated.
"She is my other half, Sentinel. If it were not for her I do not know what I would do," Optimus replied.
"Happiness indeed looks good on you, Optimus," Sentinel replied.
Optimus smiled. But it was a distant smile.
"You seem in turmoil, young warrior. What is troubling you so?" Sentinel asked.
Optimus looked at Sentinel and sighed a little on the down side. He could never hide anything from his mentor. So why try now?
"I never could fool you, could I?" Optimus asked as Sentinel laughed a hearty laugh.
"No, you never could, Optimus," Sentinel replied.
Silence….
"I never wanted this war, Sentinel. I so wanted Megatron to return to his old self," Optimus said in an honest tone.
"I know Optimus," Sentinel said in a kind tone of voice as he noted Optimus fell silent then. "Optimus...?"
Optimus sighed once more.
"Several years ago, he killed me painfully and brutally. He had teamed with the Fallen. They were going to destroy this world's sun, which in turn would have destroyed this whole world and its inhabitants which dwell on it. The human boy you met, Samuel James Witwicky, was kidnapped by Grindor and brought to Megatron. It was Bumblebee and I who went to save him, his mate, and friend. Sam was with me, and I was forced to engage Megatron, Starscream and Grindor in battle alone." Optimus said as he paused remembering that day with a shiver at the brutal way he had to fight.
"Take your time, Optimus," Sentinel insisted when he could see Optimus' conflicting emotions about the memories he held within himself.
"I offlined Grindor and severed Starscream's servo. I was looking for Samuel to make sure he was not trampled or injured during the fight. Megatron took advantage of the fact I was distracted with looking for Sam. He grabbed my shoulder armor and used his blade to impale me through the back. I could not move to get off of the blade. I knew he had me then, Sentinel. I-I felt it when he blew my spark out. I felt the pain. I also told Samuel with my last dying breath to run," Optimus said.
"It is clear you are not offline now, young warrior," Sentinel said.
Optimus smiled sadly then.
"Yes, the human boy I protected and died for, Samuel James Witwicky, he obtained the Matrix of Leadership and revived me," Optimus explained.
Silence…...
"And then I took down the Fallen; and stopped the Earth's destruction. This is our new home now, and I will defend it without hesitation," Optimus replied as Sentinel smiled. "What is wrong, Sentinel?" Optimus asked.
"I am very proud of you, Optimus. You turned out just as I knew you would." Sentinel said.
"Thank you, that means a lot to me, Sentinel," Optimus said with a smile.
"We will find a way to end this war, don't worry," Sentinel replied.
"I believe you," Optimus said as he thought now they had the power of two primes and things were going to get done much faster and better.
