I know.

Disclaimer: This story is totally and completely a work of FAN FICTION! I couldn't possibly ever begin to even pretend to write the magic behind the brilliant t.v. show AMERICAN DREAMS. The show is the property of NBC. Plain and simple.

"I can't believe we're here."
Meg Pryor, age seventeen, sat in horrified wonder, as she gazed upon her surroundings, a less-than-friendly looking police station.
Sitting next to her was her friend Sam Walker. "I know...neither can I."
"I can't believe this, I really can't believe this," Meg repeated to Sam and to herself as well. "Sam, we've been arrested! You could lose your scholarship for this! And if you do, it's all my fault!"
"Please don't blame yourself for this Meg."
Meg looked over at Sam, at a loss for words.
Sam looked back, though it pained him to do so; looking at Meg was a constant reminder of the fact that he almost definitely would be losing his scholarship, and his having black skin in comparison to Meg's white didn't make his prospects look any less grim.
His eyes met hers, and this time the pain was real and more intense this time. "When you're hurting, so am I." It took a second for Sam to realize what he had said, and what had been revealed by saying it, not just to Meg, but really, also to himself.

A/N: This is going to be my first chapter fic; every chapter will be about this length, maybe longer. Please review even if you hate the story (which I bet you will!); constructive criticism helps me grow. Luv 2 u all!
