A/N- This is my third one-shot!

This one is a Spirited away one-shot about Chihiro and Kohaku.

Warning: Character death mentions.

Enjoy.

She never looked back.

Just like I told her to…

So why does it hurt this much?

Standing in front of my house once again, I realised the mistake I made.

Praying I wasn't too late, I yelled out

"Granny, are you there!"

The old witch flew down towards me, face stern yet understanding.

"Are you ready, young one?"

Of course I was ready; I'd be seeing Haku again! But she didn't need to know that.

"Yes, I'm ready."

For a moment, her eyes showed her uncertainty, but I didn't care anymore, I needed Kohaku…

"You do know that if you go there, you can never ever come back, right?" The transparent woman whom I've dreamt about for so long asked, even though she ran this trough me about ten times.

"Yes, I know. There's nothing keeping me here anymore."

My family died in a car crash two years ago… The law has been keeping me in this stupid orphanage where I'm treated like dirt since then.

"Alright then, let's go!"

She yelled cheerfully, ready to get out of the dump, almost more ready than Chihiro herself is, the old woman wasn't used to these filthy circumstances.

Granny smiled at Chihiro, secretly hoping she would still say no… after all… the chances of survival for humans were slim, they just couldn't teleport the same way spirits could. Chihiro knew this.

Chihiro didn't care about what could happen though; she was finally going to see the river spirit she shouldn't have left in the first place.

As they were getting ready to teleport, Granny going through the spell one more time, Chihiro thought about the day her parents died.

They were driving to have a picnic for Chihiro's birthday, she chose the broken down amusement park where everything started.

She was arguing with her mom about school, her mom yelled at her and suddenly there was a loud crash, everything went black after that.

When she came to, she had been in the hospital for three months due to a coma; her parents had died when the ambulance arrived.

Her mother was pregnant.

Kohaku lived the good life since Chihiro left, he received a lot more respect, his memories were back and ever since the old witch died, he'd taken over the bath house.

Life was good, but he wasn't happy.

Ever since Chihiro left, he fell into a depression, doing nothing but research for a way for him to go to the human world, he almost succeeded once, but that causes an explosion in the human world. He then decided to get into contact with Yubaba's sister to figure out a way to bring Chihiro to the spirit world.

In a short while, they figured it out, the way had consequences, but it was worth it.

"The Spell is done."

Granny said to Chihiro, though as the time draws nearer to when Chihiro will see Haku, Granny becomes more sullen.

"Good, let's go."

She answered, not entirely caring how the old witch felt at the moment; she only wanted to see her love.

"Alright."

Zeniba took out a dagger with symbols on it.

"What's the dagger for?"

Chihiro didn't know anything about a dagger that would be used for this, it didn't make sense to her, and how can she travel to the spirit world by using a dagger?

Zeniba stabbed Chihiro in her heart.

"It's for transporting you, my dear."

"Alright, are you ready?"

The granny asked Kohaku, even though she knew the question is pointless.

"No, how can I let you do this knowing what's going to happen?"

He felt so wrong for doing this.

"In order for her to permanently be in the spirit world, she needs to become a spirit…"

Zeniba reasoned.

"I know, but isn't this a little harsh?"

Kohaku retorted.

"I think she'll be happy to see us all."

Chihiro's mother said.

How was it?
