Dr. Bruce Banner kicked at the blankets that had wrapped themselves tightly around his legs. All the tossing and turning he was doing in attempt to sleep was getting him nowhere except tangled up. Finally his legs were free. It had gotten unbearably hot all of a sudden, but that was normal weather for this part of the globe. He turned over on to his side and hated the feeling of his face, now covered in sweat from the heat, on the pillow made of some poor animals fur so he turned right back over on to his back. He made a mental note to himself to make his own pillow out of old clothes instead of buying them at the markets where they only sold fur ones. He wiped the sweat from his forehead and pushed the locks of black hair up off his brow. Maybe it was time for a haircut after all.

He was exhausted. Beyond exhausted in fact. He was practically begging for sleep to overtake him. After all, the body could only go so long without it. It had to come to him at some point, right? His entire body hurt with exhaustion. His eyes were so tired he couldn't keep them open. But sleep kept evading him.

His bedroom suddenly lit up as a flash of lightning pierced the night sky. He could see the bright flash even with his eyes closed. A tremendous clap of lightning followed directly after. A few months ago he would have been annoyed by this. He would think it just his kind of luck that a thunderstorm would be added to intense heat to prevent him from sleeping. But that was months ago. Now a faint smile crossed his lips. He met the god of thunder and his briefly wondered what was going on now in Asgard what with Loki a prisoner and the tesseract...what did they do with that accursed thing anyway? Oh well, as long as it's not on Earth, that's the main thing. But what if Loki escapes? What if the Asgardians decide to use it against Earth. He was sure Thor wouldn't, but he knew nothing about the others. For all he knew they were all like Loki rather than Thor.

Bruce sat up. His mind was going a mile a minute with these troublesome thoughts now. Rain started pouring down on the thin roof above his head and he heard the faint sound of some drops hitting the makeshift desk to his right. He got up and cleared anything important off it and grabbed a bucket to catch the drops.

A crack of thunder struck and it was so loud it almost seemed to have come from the room he was standing in rather than outside. What was going on with the tesseract in Asgard, he wondered, where did we send that thing and to what kind of people?

Lightning struck the ground outside only a yard outside of his bedroom. The hairs on his arm stood on end and he jumped. He felt his heart rate increase and knew that he had to calm himself down before the other guy showed up.

It was definitely going to be another restless night.
