The Burning of Kakariko
Fire
Children shriek
Houses burning
Roofs flaming
I watch
As people scream
Their homes destroyed
Gone forever
Are their loved ones
Anger
Fiercer
Than the flames
Attacking our homes
I run
Try to help
But the flames
So intense
People gather
In the clearing
Watching in despair
Mourning
Though their tears
Cannot drown the fire
Morning comes
The fire gone
Cooling rain
Blends with our tears
Afraid to enter
Our smoking houses
Fearing what we would see inside—
Charred bodies
Cherished belongings
Destroyed
Gone
But our memories remain
And we remain defiant
We won't give in to his tyranny
His hatred
Heart of stone
We can rebuild the town
We can make it bloom once again
But our loved ones,
They are gone
Forever
